I know that there have been some unfavorable post recently regarding policies at the Soggy Dollar and staff changes but just a comment regarding a recent visit. As a long time charter sailor, first trip in 1984, and a charter boat owner in the BVI, I have been to the SD many times and have enjoyed a couple Painkillers and many very good lunches and a bunch of people watching but on my last trip down, Jan 4th thru 20th I had a new treat. I had never tried SD for dinner but this time I did and it was very good. Food was very good service was over the top, and value was very good as well. It was interesting that as crazy as it gets there during the day it was so peaceful in the evening. In all my years of going to the Islands I never recall going to the same restaurant two nights in a row, this time I did. When asking my guest where they wanted to have dinner the next day after our first dinner at SD they all said they would love to go back to SD. I do not recommend overnight mooring in WB but it is really a short Cab ride from Great Harbor or any of the other areas at Jost. Just a different view from previous post.

I forgot to mention, be sure to make reservation ahead of time as the staff goes out of the way to make your dinner very special.

I'm glad to see this. Been trying to get GoneSailing to take me there for dinner for AGES!! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Laugh.gif" alt="" />

Doug, you had no choice(chance) given that in another thread you stated that she is the admiral.

Thus, the Sand castle is a great value.

Amen to that. It would be cheaper to buy the place than a divorce.... <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/dance.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/dance.gif" alt="" />

Sadcastle, we'll be there for dinner in 2 weeks! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />

We have had many dinners at the Sandcastle over the past 9 years and have never had a bad experience. The meals are always 4 to 5 stars every time. And the service is the best on the island. From the appetizers to the dessert, you can't beat the value nor the excellent meals.

Just curious.....why wouldn't you recommend doing overnight in WB?

If the weather changes during the night it can become a bit rough and with such shallow water and limited area between the reef and beach I just feel a bit safer in either Great Harbor, Little Harbor, or up at Diamond Cay. I have done it in the past but now only do it when conditions are favorable. Have seen it when it was a bear.
