It's been a long time since I've posted here! We did a 6 day charter last March with Moorings and LOVED it. Finally thinking about booking again for next March but we are looking around at different companies the time. I'v read some reviews on here, but just wanted to make sure there are no advantages/disadvantages to any of these choices. I think it is down to TMM and BVIYC with a slight possibility of Dream YC or Catamaran Co.

Thanks for any information!

They're both top-notch companies. I'd go with the best deal.

I did BVIYC last April and going again with them this April.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - beer in hand - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming, "WOO HOO, What a Ride!"

We've always chartered with TMM - twice in just the last year. LOVE the boats, staff and everything about them and would highly recommend them.

You can't go wrong with either company.

Thank you! Now I just need to go over the final details with my friend/captain so he can decide what he wants to do. I put one on hold with BVIYC and will email TMM about the other one I was looking at (same boat.)

Which boat at BVIYC? We are heading into our sixth charter with them in May...LOVE them and cannot say enough good things about them. NEVER have a problem with any of their boats.

Yeah...that's a nice one! You could check out CYOA out of St. Thomas too - they have the same cat and you can avoid ferries - excellent folks there too!

where are you in FL?

I saw the one at CYOA but it only has 4 bedrooms and we were hoping for 5. We have 10 people and last time the youngest slept on the fold down table - would love them to have their own room. All was just reading a thread about how the ride from STT to BVI can be rough - my oldest daughter tends to get seasick so I'd hate to start the trip off like that!

We are in Boca Raton. I've lived here for 16 years but am originally from MA. I have a brother and cousins in CA - hope to bring the kids out there to visit soon!

You will love BVI Yacht Charters - great people, great service. You're almost directly across the street from Riteway so provisioning is very easy. Getting across the street can be an adventure with traffice, etc - and if you have a lot to bring back, there are usually taxis hanging out there.

My husband and I are hoping to move to Florida this year - likely towards the fall. We aren't quite sure where yet!

We just booked with TMM for our return trip Jan 3-10 2017 our last was 2011 and we booked with TMM then and everything was great.
We booked Boomerang 2016 Saba 50 that will not even be available till this December. Looks like a nice cat. is there any advantage or disadvantage of being one of the first few charters on a new boat

Can't speak for BVIYC, but chartered s/v Mardi Gras through TMM and really had a great experience with them! Nice staff and well organized. There's a small Riteway conveniently located there as well,

We have used TMM, Dream Yacht Charters and CYOA.
Our very favorite one by far is TMM. The staff are great, the base is nice and convenient. The boat was brand new and beautiful. Although all their boats look like they are so well maintained and in great shape.

Sigman, we were on a brand new cat with TMM in November (s/v Orion) and it was great!! Loved all the new bells & whistles. Did you get your 10% discount for repeat charter at TMM?
PS: where are you in Cincy? We just moved from there 2 yrs ago!

Signman - Boomerang was the other boat I was looking at! Do you know what it has for extras? Tennessee Waltz has a water and ice maker which is nice and the dinghy is 12 feet which seems big than the tiny things we had last year. BVI also gave us a discount if we book early, I'll have to see if TMM does that.

Winterstale - do you know what area of FL you are thinking of? West coast and east coast can be so different. I ended up here because this is where my husband grew up.

Oh -and I forgot to add that we were one of the first charters on our Moorings boat last year (I'm pretty sure we were the first) and we had no problems. The only problem was that it spoiled me and now I really only look at the newest boats when I'm looking online!

We are still debating that...I am leaning more towards the west coast while the hubby is leaning east...it will likely depend on our work situation

We have used both TMM and BVIYC. We have had good experiences with both but BVIYC has been our choice for for the last 6 charters. Great boat selection, well kept yachts, and the nicest people to work with. The convenience of having Riteway right across the street is a huge plus.

Signman, my son wrestled for the Moeller kids club for years! Know all the wrestling coaches at Moeller :-)
Will look for the t-shirt at Sydneys - hope to make that night #2 on our upcoming trip!

Hello
Kimberly here from Navigare Yachting. We currently own 250 yachts worldwide for charter and 20 of them are operated out of BVI Yacht Charters fleet. They do a fantastic job for us and can certainly vouch for them. Also, we could offer you the Lagoon 52, Lagoon 450, 440, Nautitech and Bavaria and Jeanneau yachts. LEt me know if you are interested and we can send you over some proposals with early booking discounts!

Have used TMM for years and they are top notch - don't know anything about BVIYC but it sounds like you are getting lots of feedback.

I just chartered with dream. There is a company on this site called ownerstime. Got a Bali 4.5 for $ 5200 for 7 days. Going in 7/2017. You must charter in advance but it seems worth it. I have used TMM and Footloose both were good. I am at the dock only for a few hours so price is important to me.

Yes it is. I must thank you for converting me to cats for all time. Before that only monohulls. Jeannius is a great boat. I try to get owners time on my charter and yours was fantastic. Just chartered a Bali 4.5 owners time and looking forward to that. Specs on that boat are very good.
Great to hear from you. Followed your exploits on your blog.
All the Best

And the ads won't help on this thread at least, we just booked Tennessee Waltz through BVIYC. Now just have to cross our fingers and wait until April to make sure the spring break dates of all of the kids lines up in 2017. They always did for the past 5-6 years but were different this year.
