The good news for your friend is that it's a mechanical issue so at least the airline has to pick up the tab. If it was a weather related delay - chaching, chaching.....the bucks on you.
It always sounds good to get to stay on the airlines dime but they usually keep you at the airport until it's too late to really enjoy the extra time and then you have to reclaim luggage and rebook after all that waiting, and then there are the minor little details to deal with - changing airport rides and connections back home not to mention explaining to the boss how you had no other choice but to stay longer, to mention but a few........ As long as you can go with the flow it's still not too much of a big deal if the airline handles it well.

I can imagine it's a circus at PJIA. Good luck to both of you. It snowed all night here in western CT but the roads in this part of the state are pretty much clear. It looks pretty but that seems to be the extent of the impact here.
The NY TV stations say the roads are not bad beyond the typical Monday morning heavy traffic so good luck and may your travels be trouble free.

The private lounge upstairs is well worth the twenty dollars, and particularly so if there are any kind of flight issues. Just sayin.....

I used the lounge this time coming home and it was a good investment, especially since I was by myself. Only problem with the Souliga Lounge in the morning is that liquor is not free. Wine is. I don't know whether they would make a mimosa for free or not.

The snow in NY was a bust. I am sure the airports are ok. We had 2" in Nassau County and nothing stuck to the roads.

Ok, I saw a picture of the other plane from someone staying at La Terrasse in Maho. The plane was from Plus Ultra , a charter operator from Spain.
