10/13 (Which was 23 years to the day, of our first trip to the Caribbean).
The alarm went off at 3:30a, but that was okay because of where I was going. Flight from my local airport at 6:10 into Philly. Flight from Philly was delayed almost a half hour due to some lady giving the crew a hard time. They wanted her off the plane, security came and I guess a compromise was made and she then behaved herself. Great flight although not a full one.
I usually have my rental car reserved, but this time I decided to wait till I arrived since I knew the Island was in it’s slow phase and I figured I could get a better deal making my arrangements when I got there. Sure enough! I had been quoted $150 and was able to rent for $119 at Adventure upon arrival (after some discussion).
Stayed at Divi for a week and the resort looks great; Belair is doing fine also.
Saturday evening met Rick and Grace at PLP as well as Neil and had an enjoyable time with them. Stopped by the Dolphin but didn’t stay. The weather, on arrival, was very cloudy and Sunday was even worse, with winds that would almost knock you over. Monday the winds continued. Was at Orient and couldn’t even get near the beach as sand was blowing all over. Wanted to get some ribs at Pedro’s, but decided against it. Stopped at Dawn Beach and Mr. Busby’s… great 75 cent Carib’s!
Monday evening met with Ellen, SXMDee, and Annie at SBB. Enjoyed meeting new faces; although Annie did not stay long cause of the darkness. Went to Cheri’s; stopped in the Casino Royale, but not many people there so I went to the Dolphin.
Being alone, I didn’t venture to many restaurants but ate here and there (Lee’s, Cheri’s, PLP, Divi, Talk of the Town, Mr. Busby’s, Ric’s). Since mention was made that Neil doesn’t accept credit cards, I just want to mention that Ric’s doesn’t either.
Stopped at Everyting Cool and was amazed at how nice the beach area is along Great Bay. Heard that the boardwalk that had been talked about has not been mentioned now that the wide beach area is in place.
There’s some work being done on Sambuca’s, but I don’t know what’s planned there. There’s also an area in Simpson bay that is walled off and it looks like there’s going to be some construction there, but again, I don’t know. There’s a big sign for Atlantis Casino in that area, but I doubt they’re gonna move the casino.
Spent my 8th night at Mary’s Boon and it was very comfortable.
Had a super return flight although only 54 people on board. Flight attendants said they had 130 for the trip to SXM.
All in all a great trip and I don’t know when I’ve seen the sea with so much color.
Now to rake some leaves…. Yuk!
[Linked Image]
Lorrie[Linked Image]

Edited by Administrator on 10/29/01 01:56 PM.
