Another first visit was Portofinos. Had their lasagna. Was not exactly what I expected, but was excellent. Betty had the chicken on a stick. With a soda and a glass of wine, E30,50 or $29.00. Not exactly a great exchange rate, but you can't charge in Euros. Went back our last night in SXM for pizza. Loved it, ...'course we're from St Louis and like thin crust. Didn't realize till it was too late that the bottle of oil set on the table was pepper oil.(Hot) For dessert Betty had the "Profiteroles Au Chocolat" - E8,50, and she wasn't going to share. I got the Chocolat Mousse -E6,00. E14,50 for desserts, only E8,50 for the pizza. Get the picture. We were presented with a free shot of their Rum liquior. Nice touch to a good meal.
Turtle Pier: - Went here for Valentines Day dinner(no reservations, Carol). Split the Mahi-Mahi diner. Tried their
bread pudding with carmel sauce. Pudding had a nice favor, but carmel sauce was not exactly what I was expecting. Meal was good, service, not that great or friendly. It wasn't more than half full either. Musician was good and entertaining.
Breakfasts: - Barfoot Terrace II, which is a new little place at the entrance to Oyster Bay Resort, directly across the road from Mr Busby's and serves a good, inexpensive meal. $4-5.00 includes potatoes, toast, juice, and coffee. They also serve lunch, but didn't get to try it.
Dingy Dock - located on pier of Captain Olivers marina with Johnny and chef Frederick(after you wake him).
There is a new little cafe/provisions place called Bounty also opened at Captain Oliver complex. Didn't get to try anything. Cafe menu had pizza, salads, other things.
Baywatch - No trip to SXM would be complete without visiting Baywatch and seeing Andy's smiling face. Did that a couple times. Had lunch at Baywatch several times. Favorite remains marinated Flank Steak sandwich with grilled onions. Philly Cheese Steak sandwich is a close second. Lunched with new friends there on three occassion. They tried Mussels a la Andy. Said they were very good. Huge portion. Cheryl's presentation of mussels is a show in itself. She also says to come early in the week when they're the freshest and before they run out sometime on Friday. New live music and the view of the sites and activities on Orient Beach made this my favorite spot on the island.
Ms B's - By far, THE BEST ribs we had on the island were from Ms B's. Carried out to the room three times. With slaw and grilled bread for $7.50 a plate. INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!
ACTIVITIES: - Activities were somewhat limited by Betty's migranes, but I managed to do the America's Cup Race. Asked for an "actice" role and was given the job "main grinder" with three others. "Active" was a good choice of words, but alot of fun. Never have sailed before, really enjoyed and would recommend it. And our yacht, Canada II, beat Stars and Stripes. Must have been the "grinders".
Betty and I did the Lagoon Princess Cruise with Carol, Eric, JD and his cashews. You see the island from a totally different prespective. Thanks Carol for setting this up. It was alot of fun.
Betty and I went to Pinel one morning. Snorkeled a little on the dock side. Had walked over the hill, but the wind bothered Betty so we retreated to the calm side. Saw a few fish, but not a many as I had hoped.
Visited the art gallery of Dona Bryhiel in Oyster Bay. She is a delightful person. Bought some more of her work. She was giving away hand-painted little turtles for Valentines Day.
Stopped by Les Exotiques Ceramique just a block away from Dona's place. Bought one of their St Martin plates.
Only other art stop I managed was at Greenwith Galleries for a couple other purchases.
Visited the Dolphin, Princess, and Royale casinos, but limited ourselves this year to nickel machines. Betty walked away up $10.from Dolphin. I was up $2.00 at Princess. We are "the big players".
Visited the Zoo. They have installed new Zoo street signs pointing to where they are. Got attacted by a couple scarlet mcachaws in one of the walk-thru bird cages.
WHO'D WE SEE: - Met Tom(TC3) and his wife @Baywatch. Saw the results of his creative use of Carib as a suncreen remover.
Met for lunch @ Baywatch three times with new friends, Pam and George from Allentown,PA. plus an unplanned meeting in adjoining booths at Talk of the Town.
Saw Johnny from Dingy Dock having lunch @Baywatch.
Watched Bob and Dale from Banana's put away an incredible amount of Andy's creations. Cheryl said they were on some kind of diet.....yea, right!
Saw Andy and Cheryl at Banana's one evening.
Met Carol and Eric. Got to see their villa at Oyster Bay. Thanks for the tour.
Met JD(ruralcarrier). If you want cashews, talk to this man. He might be selling them on your next flight to SXM.

It was another great trip(again except for the migraines). It's amazing how fast two weeks can go when you're having fun and enjoying yourself. Thanks for reading all this. Love this Island!!!!!
Thanks to all who have posted and supplied me with info and ideas. Penciling in February 15, 2003.
