Well to start we landed in St. Martin with no issues. Grabbed a bite to eat at the little restaurants in the airport and listened to people talk about phone and internet. As I was on AT&T and informed them of my trip, they never followed thru turning mine on. Wife and people watched and then went upstairs to watch for our plane to arrive.
About an hour later we were treated to watching the sky spider make it turns and land. Wife was a little concerned on the size of the plane but I told I had actually flown smaller ones then that. (quick one more mudslide please!)
The flight is something that you have to be on to experience! It was very much of an adventure of it's own.
Seeing the rock sided walls coming at you, you wonder if there really is an airport. Fantastic landing and out we go to find our driver.
Seems a miscommunication had left us with no way to our rental until Peddy said he'd take us (unknown to us he would become our guide and driver the rest of the trip. We made the curvy uphill trek to our rental home (the Iris House) and noticed the doors were all open and the windows as well......Hmm I thought what stops someone from just walking in?
As we settled in we changed for a swim in the pool and were greeted by all the little lizards which Sue wanted to adopt to take home immediately.
We ate at some very nice restaurants and we found the people to be so very friendly. One of our favorites was the Swinging Door where every morning I would walk down and have coffee with the locals and hear of the day’s events. The food there was beyond outstanding. It was made fresh every day and reservations are a must.
I did get to Scuba dive while there and I found that to be awesome at best! The people at Dive Saba were outstanding. Sue enjoyed the boat trip and had fun with those who stayed aboard.
One day I was picture taking and saw a sign that said Spring Bay. Being the adventurous one of us I decided to walk down the hill. It was neat, having some goats escort me and sing their songs of their adventures. I reached little Booby hill and looked at all the surroundings. It was breathtaking! The seas crashing into the rocks, the small clouds that you felt you could touch and the island of Strata in the distance. Of course there was the tiny airport where the sky spiders came and went. Alas I ventured back. after about an hour, I could hear my heart clearly in my ears. My pulse was up and it was time to wring out my t shirt. 50 maybe 60 more steps and the same situation. Should've brought water dummy! This was all at around 2 pm in the hottest of the sun! Well I did make it back and allowed the pool to caress my aching muscles for an hour.
Sue found an elderly woman that lived on the island and purchased a beautiful piece of Saba lace. Even from a man's view it was very nice.
Sue and I did little mini tours and mixed in with the locals, who are so easy to talk to, from the Bottom, Hells Gate, and Windwardside.
It's hard to say thank you to so many people that made our honeymoon so unforgettable but we had to leave.
Will we come back? Damn right we will! It was a piece of Heaven that is hidden from a mortals view!

Oh no....Hunny stop the car, there's a beach here too!
