We just got back from a quick weekend trip to Amelia Island in Northeast Florida. Stayed at Bailey House Bed-n-Breakfast again ... what a wonderful Inn. The innkeepers are truly wonderful people they work so hard and make the experience special.
Amelia / Fernandina Beach area is still relatively pristine and not very crowded. The downtown historic district is a nice stroll among antique shops and restaurants. Seems like the town is trying to be "upscale" and cater to a different traveler lately, for example the Palace Saloon used to be a cool "Saloon" where you can get a beer or rum punch and a huge burger, now its almost a black-tie restaurant with $25 / plate and up ... so sad for the change.
The beaches are still real nice to see, lots of seashells to be found if you wanna look. Found Sliders restaurant --- SUPER seafood .. wow...after lunch we wandered to Little Talbot Island State Park. The beaches there are baby powder soft and the widest beaches I have ever seen. Several hundred yards of clean white sand until you get to the waters edge. Oh My...
Well, we only had a weekend, but its nice to get to the beach. The next trip for us is Anna Maria Island ( South of Tampa)....
