Just returned from Desire.
Once again had a wonderful time but..........
There were at least four or five separate in room safe thefts at the resort during our stay.
Three were forced entries into the rooms via the folding glass doors (probably with a screwdriver). All of these happened the same night.
We also heard about one couple who left their keys out in the open area while in the jacuzzi. Keys were taken and returned while they played....
The thieves are only taking cash, jewelry, cameras and cell phones and in all instances were able to get into the room safe.
Upon check in at Desire, you are given a room key which has the room number engraved on it and your safe key; both on a cord that you can wear around your neck.
Travelers to Desire should take their own precautions against thefts until the resort makes some changes. Lifestyles sent some corporate types in to evaluate the situation during our visit.
Other Desire News:
There has been nearly 100% turnover of the service area employees since March 2004.
Arturo who is the new Jacuzzi area bartender is fabulous!
Your legs get a lot of bug bites, probably sand fleas. We only stayed in the pool area, we never even went on the beach!
There are a few mosquitos around. Take some Off or other repellent.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that Desire has some serious internal problems right now. This still should not prevent you from going there and having a great time.
Travel smart and go have some fun.
