Scenic spots? Local situation? Sounds like you are just starting to look at Mexico! I’d suggest poring through some of the better Mexico travel forums and blogs, this forum is not as active. For the Yucatán Peninsula, I’d suggest looking at the TripAdvisor forums. The Yucatán Peninsula forum will take you to the individual state forums - Campeche, Q Roo, and Yucatán, and from there you can go into the different regions like Q Roo —> Riviera Maya.
Any questions from that folks there are very helpful!
