Hello all. Thanks for your quick responses to my questions prior to our trip.
Just returned from seven days on Tortola. We stayed at a lovely one bedroom villa near Brewers Bay called Kerensa. The most spectacular views of yost and the surrounding bays. Totally open air, which probably would have been calming were it not for the massive mosquito swarms...seriously, I have never seen so many of these pests in my life. So, we didn't spend too much time at Kerensa which meant we had a lot of exploring to do. And what a great place to do it!
Highlights:
Smugglers Cove Beach and Steve the Grill Master's fresh BBQ fish
Josiahs Bay Beach - husband's favorite. The Palapas were a great spot for a shady day at the beach. Conch fritters at Naomi's secret beach bar were amazing.
Cheeseburgers at Nicole's on Brewers Bay
The Dove - were here twice, the champagne happy hour is fantastic and the food is on par with NYC and Boston dining, also, it is an adorable spot.
Day sail on Mystic with Capt. Jack - hit up Norman, Willy T's and the Indians - just a wonderful day overall.
Lowlights:
The mosies! I never understood why people were so concerned about bugs until this trip. Man do they make it stressful...you feel like you are beging hunted and you just can't let your guard down.
Snorkeling - Just gave up after a few spots...nothing but really large parrot fish and tons of dead coral. Even Norman and the islands werern't great...although better than anything off the beach in Tortola. Very sad that this is the state the reefs are in around there.
Overall, an amazing island with great people!
A trip to remember.
