Great party at Pussers Annapolis -- fins off to Kathie_WE who made a super effort to put together a really fun time with a bunch of BVI lovers -- we all voted to do it again, but from what I understand we were a bit loud for some of the non-attendees in the front room. Really enjoyed meetin' everyone and talkin' sailboats & BVI.

Cheers! Daix (JD), S/V DaixDream http://community.webshots.com/user/daix01

I didn't think we were loud. Were we loud?? I thought we were all very well behaved. I can tell you one thing, it went by really fast! I could have talked BVI for a least a few more hours. I didn't even get to talk to everybody. But then again, we were the last ones there I think, thanks to traffic on the turnpike. I'm sorry I didn't get to talk to everyone at the other table. Thank you Kathie and the other 2 girls for organizing the party. I'm bad at names Maybe Donna and Amy? It was beautiful weather on Saturday, so as we were eating and drinking there were boats out on the bay sailing. We were lucky to have a little taste of spring. Looks like it would be a great place in the summer,Perhaps I'll come back here for my next sailing lesson. After the Pusser's party, Crystal and I ended up meeting up with her boyfriends family and going out to dinner at Maria's and then more drinking at Middleton's till closing. We ended up having to go home the coastal route so we could take naps on the Cape May ferry I hope we get to do it again... Thanks Eric for the tattoos!! And thanks Daix for the cozy and the atomic firballs!! OOPS!!!! THATS ATOMIC FIREBALLS!!!!

Edited by cathy on 2/11/02 06:33 PM.

Saturday was a beautiful day, for sure, and the Annapolis Waterfront Marriot--which just happens to have a Pussers Store and Restaurant--was the perfect spot for fellow BVI devotees to assemble and share experiences, memories, and information. Thanks to the efforts of Kathie, Eva, and Donna, that's exactly what happened and a good time was shared by all. The apps placed on the tables were very good as were the entrees from all reports. I don't know how many painkillers were consumed, but I would venture to say the bar hasn't served as many as they did on Saturday for a long time. They were great! I am terrible with names but will list some of the attendees for those of you who couldn't make it with apologies to anyone I may have missed or not met. (BVI Bound) Diane was there with her daughter Alisha(sp?) and they had just returned from Tortola. Kathie was there but her husband, unfortunately, had to work. Then we met Eva and Rick and Rob and Donna(DMR). We sat across the table from Frank and Kim(Gorda Peak)and they had some great experiences to share. JD(DAIX) was there and shared some of his latest adventure with us as well as how his handle DAIX came to be. The attendee who came the longest distance was Frank from Vermont proud owner of AngelinaCat and his web site which I visited for the first time upon arriving home is both exciting, informative with many great links, and moving. ( www.angelinacat.com) Cathy and Crystal were there celebrating Cathy's 40th birthday, and then we met Jill and Mike and Jill's brother Mike Hammer and shared some tales concerning beach homes on the NJ/DE coast. Rich & Maggie and Wendy were all part of the festivities, too. Were we noisy?? Probably, but when that many people get together to share their enthusiasm about a vacation paradise, one wouldn't expect library conditions. If there is a next time-a private room with more space to move around might be in order and to spare those who had a problem with our enthusiasm. Thanks and kudos again to Kathie, Donna, and Eva and to Eric for the TTOL logo tattoos.

I was looking forward to hearing about the rumored duel between BillH and Ashley at the Annapolis party. However, I see neither of their names among the attendees - or is that aspect of the party being kept quiet because of the heavy bloodshed associated with it?

"Rumored duel" ? Comes as news to me and I'm sure Ashley as
well. While we've never met in person, I can't think of anyone I agree with more on most issues and we were communicating nearly hourly right after 9/11. Duel? Not harldly. Ashley is a friend and one of the group I really wanted to meet. Sorry I couldn't be there but I know he was.
Bad rumor!

Bill Hartzman
Augusta, GA
bill@billhartzman.com

Bill, lighten up! That was only a light-hearted allusion to the widely known and admired articulateness of you and Ashley. Sorry if it went over like a lead balloon.

Sorry.. I know it's hard to express dry humor or sarcasm online. Will lighten up.!! I just didn't want Ashley to see that and think I had badmouthed him in some way. I'll take the rest as a compliment.. and thanks.
B

Bill Hartzman
Augusta, GA
bill@billhartzman.com

It was a great and a wonderfully friendly gathering. It is always a lot of fun to meet folks that you only know in cyberspace. Although a couple of us guys are really more handsome online, the women were ALL much prettier in person.

Many thanks to Kathie, Eva, and Donna for all their efforts. I also thank them and TTOL for the t-shirt I "won" for travelling the largest distance (from VT). We probably should have all won t-shirts for finding parking spots :)

We shared sailing experiences, talked about our boats in the BVI and US, and learned the origin of "Daix."

Frank
http://www.angelinacat.com/Preparingtogo.htm

Bill, I apologize sincerely for any anxiety my ill-constructed humor caused. Maybe my brain wasn't fully in gear when I wrote that post. Ashley may not remember, but he and I have corresponded too, before he became active on this board. I know that you, he, and I all share some deep convictions about maintaining civility and integrity on BVI boards.

Sorry you couldn't make it to Annapolis. Have you thought about Maine? Perhaps the Post could assign Ashley to cover this event and do a feature story on "Maine - the way life should be!"

Please.. no apology is necessary. We're far too civilized for that. I would very much like to meet several people here and hoped Annapolis would work out but I'm petty far down south. Maine will be even worse. But I have a dear friend in Haverhill MA that might go and represent me. Next best thing to being there.! I think we need to organize a big TTOL regatta in the BVI in the late spring one year and see how many of us we can coordinate. Would be an awesome experience. Why don't we think about that for 2003?
b

Bill Hartzman
Augusta, GA
bill@billhartzman.com
