I have seen chatter from time to time about the VIP Club. Received a call from the tourist board today. Seems they have missed me and are sending me a new card. Told me to be sure to fill out my arrival form and someone would meet me on arrival. A couple of years ago someone showed up to do just that with a bag of trinkets. It was nice! Seems like the club may not be dead after all.

Cool! I've got my card in my wallet right now - I'm number 100000000806. Always though that it was amusing that they needed a 12 digit number to track all of the potential vip's.

I was one of the original members. Let me know if there's any benefits, aside from the now defunct arrival lounge.

I am 100000000163 but my card is falling apart and the print is wearing off. Unless they get a VIP greeter at West End soon I guess it will deeriorate completely before I get to use it.

I am 100000000048. For a while it was really nice. They met you on the ramp and walked you personally to the lounge. They left you in the lounge with a drink while they handled immigration and customs for you, and they gave you a goodie bag. The other people on your flight must have thought "Who the #### are they?".

When they closed the lounge, they would still meet you outside immigration, put you in front of everyone, and walk you through.

A few years ago, they stopped doing anything when we sent them arrival notices. Maybe it's because we are there so often. Anyway, I haven't bothered to send a notice for several years.

I think I will send them an arrival notice for our trip down next week and see what happens.

I was going to join but when I filled out the application they wanted me to scan my passport and send it in. I am maybe too paranoid, but I was uncomfortable sending in all my info to them.

I don't need a club to know I'm a VIP !! I figured all the cash I dump into their economy would qualify me.

The VIP Club is alive and well.

I sent an arrival notice a few days ago for our arrival at Beef Island last night. Even though the Seaborne flight was an hour late, we were met inside Immigration and escorted to the immigration booth ahead of the other 30 or so people in line.

The nice lady that met us gave each of us a swag bag with assorted small items.

Then, we were escorted through Customs with our baggage and our cat. Even though I had declared about $200 of imported items and a live animal on the form, the Customs officer just smiled and said "Enjoy your stay!"

After we got outside of Customs, she had photos made of the three of us, then helped us move our luggage to our waiting rental vehicle.

Very nice!

Is this service only available at the airport, or do they meet VIPs at the RT and WE ferry docks?

And how does one apply to the BVI VIP Club?

Wes, google it. It's a simple process.

I replied earlier--I applied but they wanted me to scan my passport and send in the info plus my BVI stamps. Ugggh, I'm too paranoid to send this much info to anyone.

In November 2015 we were met at the St Thomas Airport, they arranged the Taxi, got us on the ferry and rushed us through customs at the ferry terminal. Group of 7.

Really was surprised.

I am assuming that the group of 7 required only 1 VIP member to get this special treatment... I know the purpose behind this is to increase tourism and especially repeat tourism.
The newbie (to BVI) met as a member of this group would likely be starting his trip with great first impressions, with visions of returning with own VIP status.

We applied last year and the process was fairly painless. However, the benefits were non-existent. A lady met us at the St. Thomas airport and waited while we collected our bags. She then arranged for a taxi, which was no different than walking out there yourself. Figuring they would do more for us at customs in Road Town, I tipped her pretty well, but we never saw her or anyone else after that. Once we were in Road Town, we tried to use our membership number to get discounts at the grocery stores. However, the stores said they no longer honor them.

We fly into Beef this June and I plan to contact them again - if you guys think it is worth it. We land at 8:20 p.m. on a Seaborne plane. I will not worry with it if the line will be short anyway. Thoughts?

Thank you,
Steve

Deepcut,

You are correct, I was the only member but the whole group benefited. Made a LONG day of travel a little nicer.

You will get through customs faster if you use it at eis.
