12/2/11 Saturday
Despite trying to singlehandedly make Chairmens Reserve the top selling rum in the Caribbean, I managed to get up at 8:30 am and go to breakfast at café Ole’. Kim and I were joined by Dan and Deb; together we had two breakfast toasties, a bagel with cream cheese and three cups of coffee, the bill with service charge was $50 EC. Kim and I took a taxi to Cas En Bas, the mile long uphill walk was too much for us this morning. We went to see Nadine, Mikes cousin to pick up some meat we brought from home for the charter that she was keeping in the freezer. We spent some time talking about our trip to Grenada and news of Mike who had returned to Rhode Island. Nadine had some fresh stalks of aloe in the refrigerator that she picked from along her driveway for us to take on the boat.we walked back to the marina as it is all downhill and it was a beautiful morning. We saw a carambola tree with nice ripe fruit on it, they were that light shade of orange that they get when they are nice and swee. It was tempting to pick some but as they were in someone’s yard we thought better of it. I called Trendy and he met us at the marina where I gave him some Italian sausage and hot dogs that are made in Buffalo. We checked out of the marina, picked up some fuel and anchored off Pigeon Island, Trendy was waiting on the seawall at happy Day bar to see us off and take our picture as we went by. Deb made a nice dinner of chicken and broccoli with risotto for dinner. We had a gin in tonic in the cockpit and called it an early night as the plan was to leave at first light for the sail to Dominica some 80 miles away.
