Almost all of us know and love Myett's. Val and Kareem are super people. Over the years, they have been generous and caring with every one that they know. Myett's is part of the heart of Cane Garden Bay.

Getting Myett's back on their feet will go a long way toward getting the BVI back to what we remember.

So many opportunities to help our BVI friends. Money is going to have to flow in for a long, long time. I've got at least 6 go-fund-me/you caring sites that I plan to divvy out to. Not to mention Branson & Chesney's funds.

they also have a wish list and a place where items can be delivered...not sure of the turn around but these items will go directly to the CGB community.

From Val:
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AND SHARE. Please make sure all invoices are sent to me at val@myetts.com. There are some things there from Amazon with no invoices on them. If you have sent something by Amazon please send me the invoices or they will not ship. I need the order & tracking number for any Amazon orders. Also there are some things there that have no totals for the value. Please follow the instructions carefully. An invoice or receipt with a list of items and their values must be totaled and in an envelope on the outside of the boxes. A scanned copy must be sent to me at val@myetts.com Please don't send the copy in the text of the email. Must be readable.

Some of you are asking if you can send direct to Myett's or Kareem or employees. Yes but send those items using this address not the one for the community relief. I have been shipping with Tropical for over 25 years. I am in close contact with my agent at Tropical. They will send the items to Kareem & the items to Myett's which is the address for the community separately. If you are sending to a certain person put a note inside the box who it is for. Tropical will call me directly if there is any questions. Contacting Tropical directly will confuse things. Track your packages to ensure they arrived.

For Items to Kareem or Myett's Employees:
Kareem Rhymer/Cane Garden Bay, Tortola
C/O Tropical Shipping
9505 NW 108th Ave.
Medley, FL 33178

For the Cane Garden Bay Community:
Myett's/Cane Garden Bay, Tortola
C/O Tropical Shipping
9505 NW 108th Ave.
Medley, FL 33178
Home Depot, Costco, Lowes, Kmart, Walmart will ship to Tropical but not Amazon has been dicey. You can order from Amazon but be sure to give shipping instructions to only deliver 9-4 Mon-Fri
Important!!!!
Be sure that if you are sending items to Tropical that there is an official looking invoice or receipt in an envelope with a return address on the outside of the box for customs. Also scan it and email it to me val@myetts.com. Tropical will not ship without an invoice.
And obviously no hazardous material. Send mosquito wipes instead of spays etc... THANKS SO MUCH😍

8,000 high school students in Torrance, California, where I teach, are going to be donating supplies for this cause. We can't raise money directly, but I've set up a GoFundMe @ www.gofundme.com/childrenofthebvis to raise funds to have the materials shipped from California to Florida. Any remaining funds will be donated to Walker's Anegada Relief Fund and the Jost Van Dyke Preservation Society.

If St Thomas home Depot is still there or open, they have generators

Laura,

If you are looking for something that could run a basic circular saw then the generator you referenced is probably a little too small. Your average circular saw draws (at max) around 15 amps which converts to 1650 watts. If you are looking for something to just run lights this would work fine. Hope that helps.

Rob

You can get better value for a generator if you stay way from quiet and inverter in the description. These features are if you are working with sensitive components/electronics or want to power household electrics or lights overnight with sound comfort.

If you need power for tools, this is what you should be looking at/or similar ...https://www.fleetfarm.com/detail/champion-power-equipment-5000-watt-portable-generator/0000000257139?utm_source=googleps&utm_medium=shopping%2Bsearch&utm_campaign=google%2Bproduct%20search&gslfah&gclid=Cj0KCQjwgIPOBRDnARIsAHA1X3RbarzjrzptwssN7RCPpNLMOmOVfKIv6WrwdTQvlSKhBorYE2XRNEEaAsr_EALw_wcB...or something like it

I know someone that has a container on the way to Tortola with at least 40 Generac 5kw generators inside. About 10 of them are spoken for - including one for me.

We are not sure of the delivered cost - expect it to be $800 to $1000.

Let me know if you are interested.

If we have an ability to get this stuff mentioned above to Tropical shipping in Florida....are there means to get it the rest of the way? There has to be a fee to get an item shipped from Tropical to BVI .....who is picking up that tab? Tropical?

Hi Fitz, this is something you would want to ask Val although she is just inundated and overwhelmed right now. It appears that this is Myett's Tropical acct. Maybe they are using their funding acct to pay for the Tropical shipping but i do not want to assume anything.

Their info and posts are all here
https://www.facebook.com/myetts/posts/1533319600024722

I am not familiar with what happens on island after a container arrives...maybe someone here can give reliable info without having to email her.

here are how they have it listed:

For Items to Kareem or Myett's Employees:
Kareem Rhymer/Cane Garden Bay, Tortola
C/O Tropical Shipping
9505 NW 108th Ave.
Medley, FL 33178

For the Cane Garden Bay Community:
Myett's/Cane Garden Bay, Tortola
C/O Tropical Shipping
9505 NW 108th Ave.
Medley, FL 33178

Walker I'll get with you in the next day or so, I am organizing on my end and researching multiple scenarios.... trying to dial in what will be most efficient and effective especially with this new storm.

It seemed Val's option to have stuff directly shipped to their shipper is one for sure thing that will go exactly where it is needed, especially if St Croix and PR are compromised somehow. But I have your group in the mix for sure!!

does anyone have any updates on the shipping of any supplies being sent from florida since puerto rico is in its own mess right now? I don't know the logistics of shipping to Tortola from US. Thanks
