Arrived yesterday afternoon, US Air. Flight was uneventful, just like you want it to be. AAA picked us up at airport. Drove past Sunset Bar and Grill on the way to Alain's new location on the other side of the runway. Not much sand at Sunset, but good crowd of people at the bar.
Got the rental car and headed back through Cole Bay to Grand Case. Immediately ran into stop and go traffic. It appeared to be construction across the bridge. So, we made a u-turn and took the long way around through the low lands and sandy ground. Saw where they were demolishing the remnants of the hurricane in Mullet Bay. Intended to stop in Marigot to get some cigars and wine, but when we found the cigar place it was boarded up. So, we proceeded to Grand Case and stopped at Bacchus for the wine and cigars, then on to L'Esplanade.
It felt good to get back to L'Esplanade. Everything looks the same as last year, although they have some remodelling going on in some of the rooms. Got settled, and then down to the pool bar for a few drinks.
Dinner the first evening was at Spiga's. We like to go there the first night because it is so close. Just a short walk down the hill and we are there. Dinner was great, as usual. Today, we had breakfast on our balcony, then headed over to Orient Beach for the day. It was mostly cloudy all day, but not much wind; very comfortable. The cloud cover was probably a blessing, as it kept us from getting fried. We had lunch right on the beach at Coco's. Not sure yet where we are going for dinner tonight, maybe La Villa.
