A couple of quick things.

Is there access to the resort beach either
by anchoring in Deadman's bay in calm conditions(afternoon or even overnight)
or by mooring in Great Harbor and walking over?

I realize they're not up and running but that is a gorgeous beach and if we byob, it would be a great place to relax for an afternoon.

I was wondering about that anyway and now wonder if bringing Willy T into GH will prompt the resort into curbing walking access. Seems to be their choice is to block it off completely OR add a dinghy dock and make the path a little more clear and encourage the extra charter business.

I have this horrible vision of 50 rubber dinghy's tied to trees all along that small beach at the east end of the harbor.

There has been little talk of Peter Island....I am curious as well. Has any clean-up started? I am thinking that walking through from GH will obviously be vastly different these days....

We cruised into Spratt Bay last week. Multiple signs posted to keep out. Much devastation including the restaurant destroyed. There were workers on the island and we saw one boat anchored in Deadmans.

The destruction I saw to the in April was extensive!! I do not think the WillyT is going to impact much at Peter once its back anyway. The restaurant requires that you put more clothes on (pants and jacket required) and the WT requires that you take your clothes off. I think the crowd for each is well defined.

So....with the extensive damage, I am guessing the best way to hang out at the beach at Deadman’s Bay is to anchor there....they likely would NOT be okay with people wandering through the destroyed resort. I will miss going into their beach restaurant - best rum punch I have ever had in the BVI.

I wouldn’t worry to much about the Willy T in GH.
They only gets a lunch crowd and an evening crowd which is noisier but it conforms with the tranquility of the islands.
The only thing that would have to be curbed would be the Cigarette type boats that visit on the weekends

We anchored in Deadman’s Bay a couple of weeks ago with a few other boats. They have a lot of construction and cleanup work going on. The villas on the beach looked to be in pretty good shape but they are probably using those to house the workers. I would guess that Peter Island is probably looking at a mid 2019 opening but it was in better shape that I had anticipated. The lodging near the restaurant looked in rough shape but the new buildings they have added over the past few years held up very well. They have done a lot of construction recently so I would expect them to be well equipped to get a crew in place quickly.
