It looks like right now that flight is JFK 1165 and lands in Miami at 10:30 and then 1047 takes off at 11:30. But in October it will be 443 JFK that connects thru Miami on flight 1017? Between landing @10:30 and the 1017 flight which leaves at 11:15 you don't have too much of a window. Are the gates close between the 2 flights? Do you have to go thru security again once you deplane in Miami? I assume (bad word when it comes to flying) that AA does the luggage transfers from flight to flight. The reason for picking that flight out of JFK is all the other flights require much longer travel time due to layovers except one flight that goes out of JFK at 5:40. I know that will not go over to good with my wife but maybe it is the safer option. Thanks Tim

Not sure about the closeness of the gates, one way or another, but if your first flight is on time, you should have no problems making the connection. And yes, your luggage is checked all the way through to your final destination. But, just in case, ALWAYS take a change of clothes and of course never pack your meds, etc in a checked bag.

I second the change of clothes. We had our bags delayed once and all I had were jeans. It was an uncomfortable evening and morning, but fortunately the bags arrived before noon.

Is there not a non-stop flight out of JFK to Aruba? That would be my choice even if the fare were higher. Hate Miami!

Even if we have a non-stop, we basically always put a change of clothes in our carry on. The one time our luggage didn't make it with us was on a non-stop.

Yes there is a non-stop JETBLU flight which I booked months ago for 379. I think they are the only non-stop one out of JFK. There is a United out of Newark for 574. Another family member is now going and the fare is 523. Looking for other options and AA fare looked to be cheaper but they don't quote like JETBLU does. JETBLU shows the price roundtrip but AA shows it in segments down and return which turned out to 600 plus. So much for other options. Guess they will just have to book and wait to see if the prices drop.

Boy if I were you, I would stay with JetBlue for $379!! It's like a no-brainer! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/duh.gif" alt="" /> Air fares are getting out of sight. If you find a good price, stick with it! I don't understand why you are searching for AA flights????

Please re-read the previous post. Some tickets already booked but there are additional people coming along now.
