Someone has been smoking in it. frown

It's killing me. I may need to get Fabreeze or shampoo the inside. Windows down isn't getting rid of that awful stale sickly smell. Why oh why do people smoke in other people's cars, or with the windows up? I can't even find an ashtray in the car I don't think!

Thanks for the picture and sorry to hear about the smoking smell.
Let me know if you need something to put in the car.

In 1988 I inherited my father in law's Hyundai Pony the first car that Hyundai imported into Canada. They were dirt cheap, like $2k less than any competition. 1200 |CC engine matched with automatic tranny meant that you were not going anywhere fast. . My father in law died in his sleep the night before the Calgary winter olympics opened. As we sat waiting for the coroner to arrive the cop asked me to think about anything that may have contributed to his death and I pointed to the carton of ciggies on a shelf....I think a carton had about 20 packs of 20-25 cigarettes. One week of smokes for him.

Both of my inaws were heavy smokers...when they babysat our kids we would pick the boys up, bring them home, toss them in the shower and their clothes in the wash. When they slept over at our house at Xmas I let them smoke inside but I would Crack the powder room window, maybe the patio door as well. I turned on the stove hood fan and bathroom fans. I would still wake up, shower, grab my towel and just about puke from the cigarette smell that somehow had found its way into the deep crevices of my cotton towel.

Smokers. Just. Do. Not. Get. How. Much. They. And. Their. Habit. Stink.

The Hyundai, Robin's egg blue with the cheap perforated plastic seats, emitted nicotine for the next year until I dumped it. I would wash and wax it, then detail the interior but after an hour in the sun the windows would be coated inside again with a nicotine haze.

Here in Canada if you smoke in a rental car Hertz, Budget etc. will nail your credit card with a cleaning bill. I don't think they ever succeed. That car is ruined forever.

After every Monday and Tuesday even the calendar says WTF.

I assume you mean smokers stink literally, not figuratively.

Not trying to be the contrarian here, but i gotta speak. So, although I agree the smoke stench is not fun, I know some smokers who are really fabulous people, but admittedly with a tough addiction.

Supposedly a hefty fine here in the US but it never seems to happen. We often rent and many times you can tell within seconds if a car has been smoked in.

Hopefully the smoker was billed. I know when trading in my cars I have been asked by the dealer if the car was smoked in; presumably that would decrease the trade in value.

Years ago there was a British study on the addiction powers of coke, heroin and nicotine. Of the 3 drugs the researchers found that the strongest chemical reaction at the end of the nerve synapses was with nicotine and therefore a cigarette junky would have the hardest battle in fighting that addiction. Tough addiction indeed.

And yes, reference was to the physical smell not the nature of the personalities. :-) I think smokers' sense of smell may be inhibited and that is why they don't realize how much the smell embeds in their hair, clothing and surroundings.

Now if we could only figure out why taxi drivers with B.O. cannot smell their brand of stinkiness the world would be a better place.

Will have to reach out to Kenny about getting a non-smoked in car, if that is possible.

You don't even have to actually smoke in the vehicle. After I "retired" I had a PT delivery job & one of the other drivers was a heavy smoker. The odor stayed on his clothes, & in the truck. If the employer could prove that you did - which would mean actually seeing you - they would dock you $125 for a cleaning fee. And after a vehicle is smoked in, it isn't ruined for "life". A professional detailer can take care of it. Same goes for a house. My wife & I are former smokers - I quit 18 years ago, 16 for her.

I'm going where the weather suits my clothes.

That's a whole new stinky subject and It's not just taxi drivers but waiters and air travelers.
