Spending a week on Tortola starting on Saturday and was looking at the cruise ship schedule. It's our first time staying on island rather than chartering and I'm unsure what the impact of having the cruise ships in port will be. While we're down, only one day has no ships in port (Monday). Wondering where all those ship passengers go while in port and if there are places to avoid? We had been planning to go to JVD on Monday, but that may be a day better spent on Tortola without any ships. Any experience or issues with ship crowds?

Also, in regards to a day trip to JVD, we're really just trying to get back to SDB for a day. What are the best options to get there and back?

Thanks!

Wofat

Cain Garden Bay would be swamped with cruise ship passengers I would imagine. May be best to spend Monday at CGB?

Thanks UncleLuff. We were thinking the same as I know CGB has been mentioned in the past as a big cruise ship destination. Any others?

The good news is they are gone by about 2.30..usually..Smugglers Cove is still "mostly" unmolested. You could also go to The Sugar Mill..have lunch and use their small beach..they are very accomodating like that. Sebastians is also an option but we have very litt beach here in Apple Bay right now. I belive Brewer's Bay might be an option too...

Pretty much yes. Sad to say, we seem to have a hard time learning that the Cruise Goose does not lay golden eggs.

Seems every day at the moment and some are staying later too. I headed to CGB about 3 yesterday afternoon and there were still stragglers on the beach though most had gone"back to the ship". Another great annoyance is the cab drivers who park wherever they want or can..block parked cars and then disappear.

There are 2 smaller ships parked off of White Bay today.
