Wanted to wait until the rain stopped before posting the last part of our trip report, didn't think it appropriate with what our friends were going through! VERY glad to read things are getting better. Now to finish our trip report

Friday 9/26
This was a travel day from Caneel Bay. That's the main negative in uprooting in the middle of your vacation, having to re-pack, travel, then unpack again. It was naturally hot as well. Belinda and I left STJ direct to WestEnd and picked up our jeep at Hertz. $25 + ins. NOT BAD We drove over to Sebastain's where we met Uschi and her dog/boss Chelsea where we checked in for our room, Orchid, at Coconut Point. Oh yea, somehow a bottle of Cruzan came with us too! Orchid is really nice! It's an upstairs unit in a little six unit property with a nice BIG private porch and in Belinda's words "it looks out over the ocean, beautiful views all around us, had a little kitchen, frig, stove, microwave, equipped with a cooler, beach chairs, and a never ending supply of towels! This time of year being the WAY LOW SEASON, quite a few places were closed. But the beaches weren't Luckily, we made it to probably our favorite restaurant on island this last night before they closed for some "down time"...Palm's Delight In all dererence to Davide, we haven't been able to time our visits for when Brandywine's open. Hopefully this coming April! Of course had the Gingerwine Chicken and went back into the small kitchen again to watch it being made Always great!

Saturday
Got up with the sun coming in the room at 6AM A little change from Georgia time but it's good to get up early and go to bed a little earlier than usual too. Drove over to CGB where the only place open was Myett's. Got there about 9:30 and had a seat by the rail. There was only one person there who came over to our table and told us it would be a few minutes before the cook arrived. Asked us if we would like something to drink and proceeded to make a couple of GREAT Bloody's for us. Never saw anyone take such "pains" making a drink! I told Belinda that with the effort put into these, we'd lie if we had to and say they were the best ever...didn't have to though. Our "bartender" took time to talk with us for quite awhile. I was talking about how I love to drive on the island and just go slow and while all the locals fly by us. He told us that after you've been on Tortola for awhile, you feel a spiritual connection to the hills and mountains and that you realize there is nothing to fear because you're protected by a greater force. From that point on, we called all the crazies flying by us the "protected ones" Our new friend introduced himself...Kareem Myett!!

From there we went over to Brewer's for some sun and swim with a cold beer to boot! We were the only one's there for quite some time and when a few more came we left. Decided to go crash the pool bar at LBBR and had a good hamburger and more rum!! That night, with most places closed, we went to Pusser's, ordered more than we needed and fed some of our dinner to a really neat looking bird that even those who worked there couldn't identify.

Sunday

Decided to take the somewhat long drive over to Josiah's Bay for our first visit there. Packed the cooler and towels and off we went! I LOVE the driving On the way, we "stumbled" onto Rudy's, closed of course but we'll go back next visit. Stopped at Sage Mountain, great views and watched the ranger ride up the trail on his mule. Finally got to Josiah's, lugged the cooler/chairs while Belinda picked out the VERY FURTHEST thatched umbrella but made a rum/coke and watched the surfers for several hours. The surf was too rough to just get in and mellow but great for the boarders. Since we were so close, and hadn't explored the East End yet, we drove out to the airport, just because, and circled around to the south shore and found Fat Hog Bob's, YIPEE Outstanding view from our table on the deck, great food, and even sat near a guy who looked like Austin Powers, teeth and all! What a way to spend a Sunday, even had a football game on the big screen inside but who cared?

We read that there was going to be a local All Star Band at Myett's that night and decided to go. Didn't want to drive at night what with probably having a few adult beverages ( didn't feel THAT protected!) so I called Uschi for a cab suggestion. She said to call Clem who lives near Coconut Point in Carrot Bay. Clem picked us up around 7PM and as we drove through Carrot Bay, he said "that's my place on the right"...Clem's by the Sea Restaurant! Turns out Clem also plays the steel drums at Myett's but was off that night due to the "All Stars". We got a great table near the band at Myett's and had grilled lobster and veggies. This time we met Sandman Outstanding time!! Apparently, we were the only "tourists" there since everyone knew everone else. In fact, one woman came over to our table after having looked back at us for some time and said, "you're not from here are you? Well hope you have a great time the band is really good!!" We stayed until they had to quit at 11PM and Clem was waiting to take us back "if we were sure we were ready". Come to find out, Clem has a "liking" for one of the ladies working at Myett's Clem invited us to have dinner at his restaurant the next night. We gladly accepted with Belinda making him promise to play his steel drums for us

Time to get some real work done for now, I still have three days to tell about
