Oh wise ones, This IS BVI related so I am hoping the mods don't move it but if so that's OK too.
We are having one heck of a time to find flights in February to get us to our beloved paradise in one day. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" />
We come from east coast Canada through SJU and then onto EIS for eventual NSX to Leverick.
Can't seem to get to SJU before the last Cape Air flight to EIS on the day we fly. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/duh.gif" alt="" />
We will therefor stay in San Juan for one night. Looking for a clean reasonably priced hotel close to air port.
anyone ??

It always helps if you define what "reasonable" means to you. Look at the following which are all within a 10 to 15 minute cab ride from the airport: Courtyard by Marriott Hampton Inn & Suites Embassy Suites Holiday Inn Express Intercontinental El San Juan Of course you could always stay at the hotel that's right in the airport ( www.airporthotelpr.com).

We were looking at the same problem. We were looking for a land based vacation because of the age of our children. We thought we would just get ourselves to Anegada and chill, but moving that many people, children and seniors through all of the ferry hassles just didn't seem worth it. We Contacted Fred Rebarber at Air America. We had eight people going so it seemed reasonable for the flight from San Juan to Anegada. Not sure of your circumstances, but I'd rather pay up a bit and get where I'm going than to have to get a hotel room, unpack, repack, and still deal with ferries. Just a thought Good luck

I'll repeat here for anyone that may come across this.
In the interest of saving time, we simply stay at the airport hotel. Nothing special at all, but its a clean room with a bed and they have a continenal breakfast that is included as well. We're only in the room 4 hours. If we were there longer, we'd probably opt to be offsite - we did stay at a nearby DoubleTree one trip which was decent as well. But the onsite hotel is right there, so for a short stay its much easier with no taxi costs, delays..etc.

Kim... We've done San Juan as pre and post tortola several times. Have looked for the most reasonable three star in the isla verde area. Hojo, holiday inn, ramada, etc. Not looking for amenities when you are just crashing for a night and early out next day. Kayak or hotels.com are good shopping sites.
A night in old SJU is good for a nice dinner...especially for any crew that hasn't been there before. If you have extra time, suggest a 1 or 2 hr tour from down town near the cruise terminal.
If all of you flying together, a charter non stop to VG may be worthwhile. I haven't seen Bill H on the board lately.
JPH I spent my money on booze, broads, and boats...the rest I wasted.

i agree with maytrix, we got stuck with a crappy flight plan from EIS going home to toronto last trip and reluctantly stayed at the san juan airport hotel, we were pleasantly surprised by the huge clean bedroom and bathroom and the pleasant bar where we watched TV, had drinks and ordered dinner from the bar menu, the food and drinks were good and the more we chatted up the lonely bartender the more booze went in our drinks, reasonably priced and walk to your plane in the morning - no cost for cabs or figuring out where to go for dinner! we'd do it again if we had the same routing.

Where's the hotel bar? We've only stayed from 4am to 8am when we do it, so its likely closed, but never seen it <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />
