Went over for dinner last night. Totally forgot that it was St John "Prom" night!

The new place on the square (ex-J.J.s) is open. They have a large bar, tables outside and in. Looks good, didn't stop except to sight see. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" /> They are supposed to be open for breakfast, so will probably try it in January when the 8 Tuff Mile Geiger Tuff Tune-Ups start!

Cafe Roma still not open. Looks like it should be, though...

Morgan's Mango- still the best martini bar in St John. IMHO, of course.

Virgin Fire - in the old Paradiso spot in Mongoose Junction. We love the Sun Dog Cafe and the Gecko Gazebo, so were excited to see what the same owners could do for dinner. They have an interesting reservation system which worked last night for two, will be interesting to see what happens when it's busier. We thought the food was good- we enjoy doing small plates and they have a good selection. Food and wine were reasonable (for the VI). My only complaint was that their signature popovers are really rolls- not the fluffy, airy goodies they should be.

Ocean 362 is open in the old Zozo's spot. Probably won't be going anytime soon, so someone else will have to comment...Zozo's in at Caneel Bay in the old Equator space.

The new place in the old JJ's place is Cruz Bay Landing, owned by one of the fellows that recently sold Woody's - Todd and his wife Christie. We checked out the "opening soon" view through the fence in November. Friends on island love the breakfast there.

Ya, the beaches were working for us too in November. Leinster on a Sunday was quiet and Honeymoon/Salomon was pretty quiet with no skinny dippers.

Cheers, RickG
