Has anyone gone through the process of long term rentals in Italy (3-6 months) or anywhere else for that matter? Googling just doesn't seem to be the most efficient method! These plans are not for the immediate future of course...but very interested in what your experience involved. Thanks.

I know a number of people who do long term rentals in our region of Spain. While I hate to say anything good about facebook, most of the people I know monitor specific local groups on the lookout for people like you wanting rentals. They are usually also available on airbnb and similar sites but the property owners really, really like people who come to them direct!

So, choose where you want to go, see if there is a facebook group for that area and ask the question. cheers

I'm not sure I'm comfortable renting via Facebook, example...just had a true friend message me with an attachment, I didn't open and sent a text and she said "sorry, hacked again!". Seems to happen a lot actually. Currently looking at Sabbatical Homes, Airbnb. We are interested in Italy (Florence/Tuscany), but coastal Spain hmmmmmm??!!

Beerman -- like she said look on facebook for an Italy group or a Spain group, and post a question on one of those pages. You are not renting from a Facebook ad.

There are loads of Brits with properties in France, Spain and to a lesser extent, Italy. Dealing with them should make the language barrier easier to overcome. People will nearly always offer the properties on sites other than facebook so you should be able to find reviews of potential properties.

Beerman, my Daughter, and Son in Law are stationed in Vicenza. If you want them to get you some info let me know Great area close to the alps, cities, and Adriatic. Their landlord is a great guy and owns many properties in Quinto Vincento

Thanks TravelHat, very generous. We were so close to Vicenza once, but ran out of time to check it out, beautiful area! This research is not for 2021 for sure, so don't want to waste anyone's time. I'm finding some online sites to simply check out inventory in different parts of Italy to get a feel for types of rental options. This is a serious bucket list adventure for my wife...and I'm all for it!! Planning such an extended trip would be complex to say the least..,,

Beerman,

Check out this page. There are lots of folks that are or have done the extended stay experience.
