Hmm... could it be the Smithsonian National Aerospace Museum? I don't recognize the layout, even though I've been there a couple of times. BTW, I've got at least 100 hours in the same model of glider that is suspended in the picture (Grob Astir 102, one of the most common club gliders)! I'm afraid to google, but that Superfortress looks like it might be famous

Arnd, the B-29 is the "Enola Gay". This museum is part of the Smithsonian National Aerospace Museum. It is indeed the Udvar-Hazy Center in Fairfax, Virginia. I think you're both winners!
I knew that there was an "offsite" part of the Smithsonian, but have never been there - but it is now on my list.... The "real" Enola Gay - wow! If Fran wants to post, she should as her guess was more accurate than mine. If not, I have some more pictures on hand.

Zanshin--I think that section of the Air and Space is 'relatively' new, within the past 20 years or so. We lived outside DC until 2006, and we were never there to that facility.
Fran is a fella, by the way..

FYI, I'm an aircraft nut, especially WWII. I used to be a volunteer at the Warbird Museum in Kissimmee, FL where I helped in the restoration of several WWII aircraft. I'm kind of familiar with some of the other museums out there so this one was pretty easy for me.
Carol, you are correct on the museum being fairly new.

I really will have to visit that "Annex". While I've now read about the controversy of exhibiting Enola Gay, I will be looking at her in awe for the pivotal role this aircraft played in the course of our current civilization.
So, this also played a role in history - what is it and where is it?

Fred - correct, it is Hadrian's Wall, just outside of Newcastle upon Tyne where it begins. All of my pictures of the terminus were too easily identifiable, so this one was used.

Not to get too far off track but I see no reason not to exhibit the Enola Gay. Dropping the bomb made a huge difference in ending the war and even though it killed many, it saved many more. I new Paul Tibbets (the pilot for those that don't know) as a regular visitor at the Warbird Museum and he told me himself he had no regrets.
OK, on with the game.

Arnd, I'm glad I peaked your interest in the "new" museum. It really is a spectacular place to visit. I understand it is closed due to COVID-19, but hopefully they will reopen soon.
I decided to do a stopover in Taipei many years ago. My flight was very late in arriving and it was now dark. This was long before internet so I booked a room at the airport reservation desk and got on the bus to downtown. Unlike Hong Kong, nothing was in English and I had no idea where I was so I decided to get off the bus where there was a lot of activity. I asked a young lady if she spoke English, she did and she flagged down a taxi and told the driver where I needed to go. I've met kind people like that all over the world. OK, tell me the name of the town in the distance in this photo.

I think I recognize this beach bar because of the dark sand. If this is where I believe, then I spent a week in a nearby anchorage once waiting for strong winds to subside and this was the closest (and only) accessible watering hole. This would be in the windward island chain in the Caribbean, but I am going to wait a bit before hazarding a guess so as to let someone else guess.

Behind me, on the other side of the mountain, sits one the world's most feared slalom runs. This was taken at around 1600m (5250 feet), the mountain goes up to almost 2000m behind me.

No, this is not in Italy. The peaks just visible in the left corner of the picture on this page and seen in pictures 2 and 3 on the previous page are renowned. Those little dots in the last picture aren't flaws but are actually hot-air balloons.

First photo had some German language showing so could be Switzerland, Germany or Austria. As distances quoted are quite far I'll go Austria. The only slalom I can think of immediately is Schladming.
The hills are alive with lots of huts serving alcoholic beverages, but not much music here. The peaks in the pictures are called the "Wilder Kaiser" (Wild Emperor), that should narrow the location down for those who are looking...

Yes, it is Kitzbühel and St. Johann in Austria. I had a week there with my girlfriend, who was from CA/HI and had never actually seen snow in real life before. The Super-G course at Kitz is called the Hahnenkamm and for those who've never seen a race track like that just imagine an ice rink tilted at 40-45° that goes around turns for almost 3 miles with 1500m vertical. They water it daily to keep that ice sheath thick - no mere mortal skier could traverse that run...

You threw me off the scent saying 'feared slalom'. If you'd said feared downhill I'd have said Kitzbuhel. Here's the great Franz Klammer coming down the Strief in 1984... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_jtu2lgStQ Unfortunately his even more famous run in the 1976 Olympics has now been snaffled by the Olympic organisers so is no longer available in full on youtube.
Mike - I stand corrected... I used the wrong race-type in my post. But now that I know that alpine pictures are a weak point for identification on this thread, I will be posting some snowy images should I get up to bat again. But Fred guessed this one first so he is up.

I was thinking along the same lines as Zanshin and also do not recall a second floor at Village Cay. That being said, the second post seems to indicate it is in a different establishment somewhere nearby.

I remember this main highway with horror. It turned into a 1-way thoroughfare going into town during the morning rush hour and an outbound road in the afternoon rush hour. But during the transition period the local lax attitude towards traffic regulations made it a nightmare to attempt in the middle lanes. A real-life game of "chicken". Considering that the locals accept driving on the sidewalk to avoid dense traffic to be acceptable this road was definitely scary...

Except for the palm trees in the background, I would say my mom's house in Indiana!! She has about two dozen wind turbines that she can see from her house!
Located directly across the channel from Old San Juan is the Barcardi Rum Factory. There are 2 wind turbines on the premise. A fun place to visit! Fran is up!
I don't remember there being any wind turbines at the Bacardi Factory, but it has been a few years since we were there. GREAT place to visit, so long as you're walking afterward!!

I've never been there, but that party boat looks like a fun reason to go. OK, I'm going to start the next round by requesting the name of the village/political subdivision in the country. If no guesses, I'll broaden out later.

Aha - I was sure I knew the location of the airport in the first image, but the second picture threw me, since there is no stadium in sight of the "terminal buildings" in the first one. So I cheated and called up google earth to see if perhaps a stadium had been built.... it hadn't. But since used outside help I'll have to defer to others.

Adrian, good catch. The first time I posted it, I saved the file as Canouan after I used Paint to obscure signs. I didn't realize the file name would show up but it did and Sleepychef pointed that out immediately. Since I don't have many pictures I used it again hoping Sleepychef wasn't watching. I guess he wasn't.

The game started 21 threads ago with the alpha being the entrance to Malta's harbor in Valletta. Will the Azure Window be the Omega. Your call Fran

Zashin, mostly correct. I assume you meant Potter's. Good enough. And my buddy Sam whacking away at lobsters for that night's dinner!! I knew that was too easy. But since we land base on Anegada, virtually all of my vacation pics are from Anegada. You are up my friend.

Fred - "Fe" is the official designation for "iron" (from the Latin "ferrum"). But I did wear a pair of Iron Rangers this morning on my walk, which I gather come from that mountain range and iron mines in Minnesota... But that mountain range is on the wrong continent, there aren't many big hills in this area... but there are some major government offices in this city! I'll wait a bit and then post another image.

That must have taken a while to edit! It's Brussels and those would have been the flags of all the EU countries. On further thought though it could be NATO HQ. Either way it is Brussels. I recognised the first photo but thought that was Berlin so didn't guess once you' ruled out Germany.
Mike - it is indeed Brussels, the capital of Belgium and of the European Union and I had to click the "smart eraser" in Photoshop a number of times to try to hide the flags flying in front the EU Headquarters building. All yours!
