KEY WEST Day 3, part 2

to continue................after a great breakfast at Blue Heaven we continued our walking tour over to Fort Zachary Taylor. The walk over was through some pretty nondescript side streets, however there were still many interesting things to see including old conch style homes.



I must have been full from breakfast because I didn't take but 2 photo's between Blue Heaven and the Fort hmmmmm. We stopped at the Park Service gate and I think we paid $2.50 or $3 per person to enter. They said the pass was good for the entire day if we decided to leave and come back. We walked the main road into the park and followed signs to the Fort, easy peazy!













After a very interesting self guided tour of the historic fort we walked towards the beach area. It was a beautiful breezy blue sky day with temperatures in the high 70's. We walked around the fort and out to the seawall, they allow bicycles everywhere inside this park, that would be fun!





After reaching the seawall that separated us from the gorgeous blue water we passed a small forest of pine. As we rounded the point all we could say was WOW, we didn't expect to find such a beautiful beach here ...

We walked halfway down the beach and discovered a nice snack shack that served everything that is important...BEER! Yes please!

Our intensions this day were to drive out to Smathers Beach, however we decided to walk back to our condo, grab our beach stuff and return to this wonderful beach at Fort Zachary Taylor, heck we already paid the admission right! I didn't take many photo's walking back to the condo because we were on a mission to get back, but here's a couple............
