Hi,
I'm looking for recommendations for a boat charter/company for a week in February for 2 adults and one child (1.5 years old). We are both boaters but would like to hire a skipper & possibly a chef (depending on the price & if they do the grocery shopping for you beforehand). We are getting married in Tortola (just us 3) a few days before, so we want it to be something special. We aren't looking for anything super fancy boat wise, but would like something that fits us comfortably with a skipper. And I'm assuming all the charter boats come with a dinghy, because that would be a necessity for us. Does anyone have any recommendations on a company or specific boat for our trip? Do you know what the average price is for a week on a boat that would fit our family?
Thanks for your help! - Ashley

Hi Ashley! Congratulations on the upcoming nuptials! Take a look at my boat - Time Will Tell - to see if her availability works with your schedule. If so, shoot me an email, and we can work up a rate for you. Captain and chef are available, and the boat does naturally come with a dinghy. Again, Congratulations!

Ahoy Captain Ashley, May I suggest you take a look at SmileMaker, a 2017 Leopard 45 with 4 Queen Beds and a Single Bed and 5 Bathrooms, and a GenSet and AirCon. SmileMaker is relatively unique as it has a proper finished Captains Cabin with AirCon giving the Guests 4 Large Cabins each with it's own Bathroom. SmileMaker was professionally 'Phased Out' of Sunsail to Bristol Condition in the spring of 2020, the forward door into the 'Cafe Area' is very popular, and Yes a 12' dingy. SmileMaker charters out for only $1000/Night and I can arrange for a Captain or Chef at a reasonable additional rate. Fair Winds, Brent at The Captains Compass

Hi Brent,
The smilemaker sounds great for our plans. Do you know who I can reach out to to discuss adding on a skipper and chef and talk prices and dates?
Thanks, Ashley

Hi Timewilltell,
What does confirmed in red mean on your availability chart?
Thanks, Ashley

Hi Ashley!
The red means that the client has confirmed their booking (signed the contract, paid the retainer, etc) - although I just got an email from that client about a change to their booking - so if those dates work for you, let me know. It could be good for everyone!
Look forward to chatting with you!

That’s a very good price on a 2017 45 foot Leopard! Was this a boat considered totaled in Irma or did the owner opt to remove it early from the Sunsail program?

Ahoy Capt.. George, Sorry, nice try with the Straw Man Fallicy Neither SmileMaker, nor SeePalm/StarGazer (the other 2017 Leopard 45 joining my 'fleet' this month), suffered anything beyond minor cosmetic damage in Irma. No dismasting, nor any other serious fiberglass damage anywhere on the yacht, nor one drop of salt water below deck. In fact both yachts did over 30 Weeks in 2018. As I now have a vested interest in the yacht, if you would like confirmation you can contact the Buyers Broker, Capt. Tony Brewer at tony@littleships.com or the Moorings Broker Capt. Richard Vass at richard.vass@mooringsbrokerage.com . You can also call the best surveyor in the BVI, Capt. Bill Bailey at bill@caribsurveyors.com, although due his Professional Ethics I doubt he will go into details. I sincerely appreciate your skepticism, but my Prices are due to my personal handwork and therefore low overhead. In fact I just walked in the door from a final check on the yachts in my fleet now secured hurricane style to the mangroves in the inner harbor of Sea Cow Bay, while Road Town is filled with the yachts from other charter companies still on mooring balls or at the dock. Thanks Brent, it was not a straw man question. I was curious why the owner removed it from the Sunsail program early. The last 2 years are where you really attack the note. The 45 is a really nice boat.

Ahoy Capt. George, You are without doubt one of the Wisest, most Professional, and Helpful contributors to this Forum. I have always looked for, and will continue to look for, your Moniker as a beacon in this storm of opinions I hate the internet. Sorry if my winky smiley emoticon did not mitigate my counter to your very reasonable question if the value was a reflection of it being an Irma boat. Thank you for raising the issue so I can confirm it was definitely not. Fair Winds, Brent from The Captains Compass
