I think this is a move in the right direction.

You're probably right, but it also means that the chances are that fully vaccinated US residents will need to test yet for some time, which is disappointing. Hopefully the situation in SXM AND in the US will get under control, so that being fully vaccinated will be sufficient. At this point, due to the situation here in Florida, I am somewhat concerned that it will be difficult to obtain a timely test for our trip in October.

Yes. You could be right on when Vaccinated tourist won't need testing to enter SXM. Hope you have no problems getting tested for your October trip. Good luck when it's time.

Irina--we ended up paying $150 EACH for a test in June, as our free tests from Walgreens did not come in for 4 days, until of course we had already shelled out the other money..... I will wait until closer till we go to see what the times are looking like for results.

Carol, where there is a will, there is a way! We are in Florida too, and also planning to head back in October.
We need to remember that the real goal is herd immunity. There is more than one way to reach that goal.
It doesn't have to come through vaccination. I expect that by October, Florida will likely be there, one way or the other!

From what I read, herd immunity is still a long way away..

Anyone here in Florida who has taken a test recently? Are the ID now tests still coming back within an hour or so?

Not so sure how our so called FREE Walgreen test is. Last week we got a bill from the Lab for 125.00 each and a request for more insurance information. Our tests were back in early May. I'll let you know how this plays out.

In Bradenton, Fl they have recently reopened two new, free test sights. I know three people who have been tested in the past week.
Results in less than an hour.

Scubaman--interesting. At the time, Walgreens had on their website a statement that you will NEVER receive a bill for their testing... Let me know how it shakes out. Our 'free' test was in June and was totally worthless, since it didn't come in time..

Sadly, it is crap like this and the continuation of the never-ending hoops one has to jump through is why I am staying on the sidelines at this time.

Well, had the most pleasant experience at Walgreens. Wanted a test run to see how it all went. Booked appt online which was easy. They offer you a pcr or antigen test and no charge. Took the ID Now test in the car, swizzled swab half inch to inch up each nostril 5 times and left. One hour later the results came and in PDF format were emailed to me.

That's the way ours was too back in May but then got the bill for 125.00 each from Lab last week or so.

SHFH!!!! SMEFFENH!!! The heart attach we had the last time nearly had me cancel the whole trip!! JEPeg vs PDF and all that BULLSH*T!!! Are they doing the same thing for the cruisers??? Is it still 72 hours??? And the same SH*T going back too??? If we didn't need a vacation so bad, with what Louise and I have been through this past year, I'd say Screw it! Not going! But it's our home away from home and the mind and body deflates into the sand and ocean! Holding my breath!!

Sand Gravity, got to love it!

I didn't find the process bad at all for our trip this last May. Going and returning.
