It's likely these questions have been run through the wringer already, but we all know that very little is consistent in the BVI right now. I was looking at the Ferry Schedules Jason had posted - Thank You Again Jason for all your help! - but then at the end of the thread, someone stated the BVIPA are no longer posting schedules, So, we are traveling CA to RT (unless West End becomes a stop again) on March 5th. It looks like we will be taking the RTFF at 5:00, does anyone have any info that may suggest any other Ferries may run on a Saturday? Is it recommended to purchase seats ahead of time or should we be OK to purchase seats when we arrive the Ferry dock? And finally, we are coming in to STT on AA, arriving about 2:30, if anyone has a water taxi booked and has room for two more heads. Thx

From my conversations with the ferry companies in planning a coming trip, it would be wise to book and pay for your trip in advance. Being a Saturday, one of the busier arrival days, always a possibility of the ferry being booked when you get there.

There are only three ferries a day from CA to RT, and RTFF only services Road Town right now. With your 2:30 pm arrival, the 5:00pm ferry is the only one you can catch. Easy to reserve through the RTFF website. Much less expensive than water taxi (50% in most cases).

The other ferry company, Smith's Ferry runs the 2:30pm ferry, in case you could get in earier. But you would need to arrive around 1:00pm to catch that.

Native Son also has its ferry schedule on its website.

My bad. I didn't think about them as they are not operating on my travel dates. But yes, they do cover the same route between CA and RT. Looks like they help to have a complete schedule with RTFF and SF.

Thank you both for your input! At first glance I thought Native Son were running on March 5th as well, but looking again I see they are running on the 4th and nothing on the 5th. I suppose it would be a good idea to reserve ahead ... as CarolinaSailor noted, it's likely to be busier on a Sat as well.

Question: we booked Smith’s round trip ferry service from St Thomas to Road Town and back. Any recommendations on getting from the airport (STT) to the Charlotte Amalie ferry dock? Smith’s quoted us but it’s $68 for a 10 minute drive.

First off..never book a round trip because you may use another company on the way back. Second..just come out of the airport and climb in the first cab ..they will ask you where you are goiung..should be $10 each plus $ for bags ( sometimes.

I would call Smith's and speak with Marjorie. She can line you up with their taxi service. $15 per person, includes normal (under 50lb) bag per person. They will meet you outside baggage claim with a sign with your name on it and will notify ferry that you are on your way, if you are running late.
