Last trip down was land-based USVI December 2019. Heading down June 2 and would appreciate any advice or information on Covid testing for return and water taxis.
For the trip down, our party of nine are all fully Vaxxed with at least one booster November, 2021. Looking at everyone else’s posts it looks like we do not need a negative test to enter BVI just our VAX card with proof of vaccination?

For the trip back from BVI through STT to Atlanta, I am getting mixed notices on the US state department website some saying no requirements now for negative test for reentry others still stating the December CDC order is in effect, needing a negative test within one day of return. If this is the case, any suggestions on the best test that we would probably administer in virgin Gorda VGYH with good Internet reception on Thursday before our return flight on Saturday?

The comments on ferry service from STT to Tortola with our 1 o’clock arrival time in STT are still a little sketchy and not sure if this would be the best option. For water taxi, there have been some comments about mixup and schedule changes but I would appreciate any comments on the ferry versus private water taxi and suggestions for the most dependable water taxi. Any feedback on how dependable the ferry schedules are that are posted by the various ferry’s nowadays?

Apologies for the lengthy post but trying to tie up all the loose ends and would appreciate any feedback from fellow TTOL’ers. TIA

Also meant to ask if the travel insurance requirements for entry into BVI are still in affect? Thanks

You have some incorrect info. Please review these sites:

https://bvi.gov.vg/travel-protocols

https://usvitravelscreening.com/or

If coming down through STT, travel portal required. If leaving back through USVI, portal required again. In both cases, vaccine card should be uploaded. For return to USVI from BVI, negative test required to be uploaded as well.

Must have negative test to enter BVI, even if fully vaxxed. Test must be within two days of entry. Can be either proctored rapid antigen or PCR test. Test results shown upon entry, no portal for fully vaxxed.

Must have negative test to reenter US. If flying back to US, test must be within 1 day of reentry. If returning to USVI via water (water taxi or ferry) test must be within five days of reentry.

In all case, proctored Abbott BinaxNow test purchased from Emed.com is easiest and most economical ($25 per test) when bought in six packs, make sure to take extra test kits down in case one fails-which does happen sporadically.Test over internet with proctored observing.

We are a crew of seven also heading down June 2, Are you land based or sailing? Our crew lands in St Thomas at 1:15 and have ferry tickets on the 2:30 ferry. We will be sailing Stargazer, Leopard 45 out of Captains Compass. Always excited to meet other TTOL’ers

Thanks for the detail/links. I have a clarifying question for fully vaxxed and using the Emed tests entering via Ferry from STT. I've read the linked BVI stuff likely too many times - do fully vaxxed (with proof) and negative (hopefully!) tests within 2 days use the portal or not? I'm not disputing any others comments but just trying to get clarity. Perhaps I've read the detail too many times and confused myself! We leave this Sunday.
Many Thanks
David
From the site:
Requirements for Fully Vaccinated Travellers Upon Entry to the Territory.
Many Thanks
David

Travellers that present a RT-PCR or approved rapid antigen SARS CoV-2 negative test result taken no later than 48 hours before arrival and providing satisfactory evidence of being fully vaccinated shall:

not be required to be tested for COVID-19 upon arrival; and

be allowed to move freely within the Territory subject to adherence to COVID-19 enactments and protocols, including physical distancing protocols, wearing of masks and sanitization measures.

Fully vaxxed travelers do not use the BVI portal. They must be tested within two days of entry. As long as test is negative, no additional test will be required at entry.

You are not the first to be confused, trust me.

Renember, covid assistance insurance is still required for all travelers to the BVI. See Current Entry Requirements thread (top of TTOL BVI) last two posts on page 3 for detailed info. FYI.

From the wonderful Lynette Harrigan
Ok let’s break this down in plain English to enter the BVI and stop all the unnecessary confusion.
Fully Vaccinated Visitor: Proof of Vaccination, Medical Insurance, Negative Antigen Test.
Fully Vaccinated BVI Residents: Proof of Vaccination, Negative Antigen Test
If test is within 48 hours (two days) you do not test on arrival. If outside the two days you will be tested on arrival. No Portal
Partially and Non Vaccinated Visitor:
An RT PCR test within five days of travel, test on arrival with an antigen test. Medical insurance.
BVI Resident: An RT PCR test to enter and an antigen test on arrival.
Once test is negative you are free to go. No Quarantine
Please fill out bvigateway and upload your documents and pay the portal testing fee for approval.
The changes that were made, no quarantine once negative and an antigen test on arrival.
Please pay attention to the test that is needed by your vaccine status for entry.
