Our party of 4 adults will be bareboating (first timers but with sail cat experience) a sail cat with Navigare out of Nanny Cay in January. I'm. looking for some advice to build an itinerary for really only 4 full days - we board at noon then will have the check-in briefing. I anticipate we won't have much time that first day to get somewhere before dark. Then we return the boat at noon on the sixth/last day so we'd need to be relatively close to Nanny Cay. I realize this is not a normal length of trip but we had some budget and time limits this time around. We'd like to get some good sailing in, not just motoring everywhere. Anyone willing to help with a reasonable itinerary? Thanks in advance!

This might have to be game day decision. Last time we were in the BVI in January we had bad north swell, sizable waves and 25-30kt winds so had to limit our stops to places that that are more or less immune to the north swell. Having said that, we are also going again for a short trip in January, so it will be interesting to see what people advise.

it all depends on the swell. But here is what I would do.
1. Cooper, Manchineel Snorkel 2. Fallen Jerusalem Snorkel/beach walk, Northsound (BEYC day/SABA eve) 3. Dog Snorkel, Monkey Point Lunch/snorkel, Diamond Cay Jost, Bubbly Pool, Bee Line Dinner 4. Sandy Spit, Sandy Cay, Great Harbor Jost 5. Indians Lunch, Norman, Caves snorkel, Pirates Dinner, Willy T Late 6. Base

Start planning for your next trip now. Our first charter was just like yours, in January 1994 out of Moorings. As soon as we raised the sails we realized we had made a terrible mistake in booking such a short charter. We actually made it to North Sound on Super Bowl Sunday so be flexible when planning your destinations. We sailed BVI for decades, owning several boats out of Moorings. Sigh….

Get your briefs done early or night before so you can be underway at noon!
