My husband and I just booked a BVI Yacht Charter cat for July 2-12. We used to sail BVI every year, but this will be our first time back since the week before Irma came through in 2017. For those of you with more recent experience in the area, have mooring balls been safely restored in most places? Is there anywhere we should avoid that is still under construction? And lastly (if anyone knows), will most restaurants still be open during the first half of July?

We absolutely love BVI and cannot wait to sail there again.

Thanks, Manpot - I was hoping that would be the case. Many of our previous trips were in August or even early September and there were a lot of restaurant closures during that time, so we weren't sure how July would be.

Most places have been restored. Certainly there are plenty of mooring balls. Peter Island is the biggest missing piece IMO, they are actively working on it but probably still won't be fully open for a while. Bitter End Yacht Club is still in the process of reconstruction, but already open and worth a visit. Marina Cay is also still being re-built and is not open except the mooring field.

Thanks, MrEZgoin - that's good to know. We usually give Peter Island a miss anyway. We got married on Saba Rock in 2015 so we're looking forward to seeing their rebuild, and we'll definitely check out Bitter End's progress while we're there!
