Good Afternoon,
This airline had some very bad reviews, but they were from months ago. Many were from other islands and not the San Juan to Tortola round trip flights.
As you know, the fare is good. Can you please tell me anything good or bad about the flights and have the cancellations and time changes been improved. We would be taking the first scheduled one on a Saturday in November and: mid morning (2nd Flight of the morning EIS to SJU) on a Friday in December
We are tempted to do it this way but because of the older reviews are worried. Any of your news or flyers feedback would be very helpful.

If it isn't codeshare, just say no.

My United route doesnt include a code share. I am thinking they are having less problems now as I haven't heard as much in reviews but I am thinking they have expanded many routes throughout the areas and perhaps share with sju eis planes and strand people. Will they give you a refund and motel if worse scenario causes them to cancel>>> I don't know

United codeshares with Cape Air, not sure about Silver. Have you used Google Flights?

From what I see the United code share is full of stipulations which exclude my route, I am thinking a few people have had a fairly bad experience but not especially every flight has lost luggage or long delays since then I am hoping they have gotten on top of it and with all the islands they go to have figured it out. I would think even if no code share agreement that IC will refund and provide meals, hotels if after 4 hrs delay or if they cancel the flight etc. Wondering if anyone ever gets on time service because of the other issues??? Thanks for any thoughts on recent performance.

InterCaribbean is not a US airline. I recall people complaining that none of those things (hotels, meals) were provided when flights were delayed. Where are you starting from? Go to Google Flights and enter in that city as your starting place, going to EIS. Are you wedded to United? American is starting direct flights from Miami, which makes Tortola a two-flight destination from many cities. Key is to have all flights on one ticket.

Thanks- Yes I tried that it doesn't recognize it from LAX... We are fixed on our purchased tickets. Just need to verify if ICA has improved. Their site talks about the normal extras when they cancel. Thanks.

Took intercaribbean from SJU to Eis. On time BUT the flight was miserable. Seats are so tight together that I could not put my knees in from of me but had to sit sideways. I am 6 ft tall. I would not fly with them again. Took Silver from EIS to SJU. On time and their plane was new with good amount of room between seats. I highly recommend them over intercaribbean.

I have not taken IC before. I have been on Cape Air and Silver a number of times and never had an issue. Based on recent experience, Silver has been doing well. Good size planes with comfy seats. They are code sharing with AA. From what I have seen at SJU and EIS, Cape Air is running the small single prop planes. All the regional carriers have gotten bad reviews over the last couple years. IMO Silver is doing better recently. If you want to get actual stats on cancellations and delays, go to FlightAware.

As has been posted here of TTOL, American will start running a non-stop direct from MIA to EIS in June. I'm not an airline person, but I wonder if that will impact Silver's operations as they are probably getting most of their current passengers for the SJU-EIS route thru AA code-share bookings.

Silver is also code sharing with Delta.

Thanks to everyone for sharing their flight experiences to EIS. One last issue please> I am eyeing ICA and Silver BUT it is for November in 6 mos. Any advantage to wait so the schedule doesn't change too much or the fare amount. Thanks for all of the input here.

I would wait a bit. One or both might not even be around in November.

Cape Air coupons are $240/each - pretty good deal.

Agree with George. I would definitely wait. We have a trip planned for November as well....waiting until at least August for tickets.

I believe you can also book a code share with Silver through Jet Blue as well.

the on time performance of both Silver and ICA looks pretty good lately. From RT Sju-Eis

I pretty much always have a google flights price alert for one way fares to and one way fares from EIS (ORD home airport). When I book a trip I add in the exact dates and set a second search. I get an email every day from google with the lowest fare known at this time AND the lowest fare for my journey. I typically will track each direction separately. As one leg will go on sale and then a few weeks later the other will.

I end up having my tickets booked about 8-12 weeks out from the trip. If you know whats cheap, you can act when the price is right. American is usually the cheapest going down island and United is usually the best (almost cheapest) going home. I avoid STT like the plague unless ridiculously cheap, which does happen from time to time.

Thanks- interesting. Im just looking for sju-eis rt. Do you think the google alerts will work much on that route as do those prices change or just stay up because of supply and demand???

We used them last year and I did two things to mitigate any issues which are possible with any of the airlines. I bought an annual trip insurance plan (paid for itself a few months later when I cancelled a different trip). We also stayed in SJU one night on our way there and two on our way back. Way there we just went to the nearby embassy suites and relaxed at the pool, had dinner and got some sleep. Breakfast in the morning before heading to the airport for a 10am flight. Return we spent 2 nights at the hyatt grand reserve which was a great time. Staying made for a more relaxing travel time and reduced potential issues caused by delays.

Honestly, InterCaribbean has never let me down. And they are almost always far and away the cheapest. However, their planes do suck, especially if you are tall or generally on the larger side.

The last InterCaribbean flight I was on all the fans/AC were broken and it was the hottest experience of my life. Thought I was going to stroke out.

Silver has been close to price recently, and have significantly nicer planes.

Cape Air is reliable, but has been significantly more expensive so I always end up with InterCaribbean or Silver, with Silver being my preference of late due to quality of planes.
