My family is on VG for the next week. My greatest vacation pleasure is floating/swimming at the beach. Are there any beaches that are calmer when the wind and wells are up? Someone today said Spring Bay was like a washing machine and they were scared to get in the water.

Any rainy day ideas for Wednesday?

Thanks!

Spring Bay should be fine if there is no North Swell. It looks good for the next 3 days but a large swell is predicted to move into the BVI in 3 to 4 days. The only time the wind should be a factor is if it clocks around to the North which is rare.

Thanks, good to know. I think we will head that way tomorrow.

When we were there last it was this exact time of year and we had the same issue. Honestly, our only good beach days were at Flash of Beauty on Anegada and at Fischer's Cove. So maybe take the ferry over to Anegada for a day! The lobster roti at Flash of Beauty is one of the best things I've ever eaten in a long life of really good food. And for our rainy days we did a lot of day drinking, so maybe not family-friendly, but go to Leverick or Top of the Baths where there are pools and it'll be fine.

The videos I saw today from the Baths were intense. Spring Bay will be the same. Unfortunately large swell doesn’t bode well for beach days on VG. Starting late Tuesday it looks like the Anegada conditions start deteriorating so I would be cautious about a trip up there. How about a spa day if it rains?

Spring Bay is your best bet if the north swell is up as the rocks do provide some protection. With that being said, it can still be rough. Savannah Bay, Nail Bay, Long Bay are all also unfortunately going to be rough with a north swell.

You could rent a dinghy from Blue Rush Watersports at Leverick Bay and take it over to one of the beaches on Prickly Pear. Those are still protected in a swell, especially Sandbox.

You could also catch the BEYC ferry from Gun Creek and head over to enjoy their beach.

As for rainy day unfortunately not a ton. Catch the Gun Creek ferry over and play pool, shop and enjoy the spa at Saba Rock. Or board and card games at Sugarcane come to mind.

Thank you so much! My husband loves to play pool (and day drink) so that is a great idea. I also want to see the BEYC again now that is redone.

Be aware the last two times we were at Saba the upper bar played music so loud you had to scream to order a drink. We could only take it for 30 minutes and moved over to BEYC.

Agree that Savannah is probably your best bet for swimmable water during swells. Plenty of reef break there. It won't be dead calm but it will be manageable.
There's always pool at Gunnies! And you never know what goodies they are cooking up in The Bond. smile You couldn't spend a more authentic afternoon on VG. wink

could not more highly recommend pool, darts, fried chicken, and of course drinks on a rainy day with Gunny at The Bond

Yesterday we headed to the Bitter End and had a lovely lunch. Excellent cocktails and pizzas. Our friend is in the design business and was very impressed with hard product.

Today was a long lunch at Olde Yard Village. Roti, Mahi sandwich and fish bahn mi. We all liked our food.
