We booked our direct flights to STT yesterday! For what it's worth, the cost difference between STT-EIS was substantial for the 4 tickets, even after ferry costs we'll have over 1k for BEER!. Best tickets to EIS also required short layover in San Juan, we really scrambled one year doing this. Having direct 4 hour flights is a good thing to us.

We actually don't mind the ferry crossing! We land STT at 1220p and was hoping to catch the 2pm ferry. Schedules show a 2pm and 4pm, but when I went to the Fast Ferry website, I see only the 4pm? does anyone know if late July schedules are modified?

Plus we've always waited to buy our tickets at the terminal, if that's still a good idea especially in July?

Either way we don't mind chilling at the Pump Room, if that's still there? our safety net can be the 5pm out of Red Hook.

Many more questions coming, I feel like a newbie! Cheers!

The 2pm might be Smith's or Native Son. We usually just buy our tickets for the next available ferry. Never traveled to BVI in July though. We usually go Oct.-Nov. or April-May.

I looked at all 3 sites and I guess we won't know for sure until we get there? At least Rick says the Pump Room is there!!

Here is the July ferry schedule. No problem waiting until you get there unless you are arriving during Christmas in July, which is at the end of July. For what it is worth I think it is smart to avoid the San Juan puddle jumper. Lots of issues with that lately. I think the only flight I would do is the American flight out of Miami direct to Beef Island.

May I ask where you found that specific schedule please?..........and well....would you believe we arrive on Sat 26, the day of the big event ha!

edited to ask...We have sailed when the navy was there years ago, can I assume that the majority of festival goers arrive by personal boats and not by ferry? last ferry back from Road Town is 3:30...I would think the 2pm or 4pm ferries from Charlote Amalie would be ok unless people have accommodations near Pond Bay?

I've never been to Christmas in July but I do assume most arrive on their own boats. I get the ferry schedules from the site linked below. Since Covid they all take turns running a specific time. If you scroll down on the page you can find the Aquatic Rentals schedule too. They go from Red Hook to West End with a stop in St. John on their way back to the USVI to clear in.

Christmas in July is almost 100% boat owners from SJ so they are not taking ferries..never seen that being a problem.Just got here today and came on Smith's brand new cat ferry..huge improvement over the good old Bomba Charger. The immigration form just creates chaos..even the nice lady trying to help folks agreed so we'll see how long that lasts.Getting CRC squared away..thrushes have made a nest in my roof and made a huge mess..island life!

Thank you, if that schedule remains good, we have several options and I'd prefer to wait until we are at the terminal to purchase tickets. We were in the North Sound years ago when the navy was in town, they were anchored everywhere, tied off in the mangroves and having a great time. We enjoyed the action!

I'm glad you mentioned this festival, we will adjust our itinerary on that Sunday if needed. Others may know, but I remember that most boats departed rather quickly the day after the festival?

Manpot, I feel your pain, our cabin in West Virginia has dozens of nests around the cabin/property, above lights, outdoor ceiling fans anywhere they can build. Once they contain eggs I don't like to remove them. The Robins have just flown the coop, other species will vacate soon.

Curious about the C&I mess I'm reading about, in your opinion do we fill out the online form at the terminal or hand carry paper documents if permitted? New Smith's ferry sounds great!

I did mine online..with the aid of my local MacCafe expert! I also printed out a copy which they took..and handed right back to me.The problem was customs and folks being told they had to fill it out because it contains a declaration section..that really held everything up. Seriously a high schooler could have created a better document and its a waste of time anyway. One other thing..the nice lady trying to help out said she had been told to get there because the Gov,in their infinite wisdom, has got rid of the ambassadors who used to go down the line and check everyones docs beforfe they got to the desk..like the lifeguards they brought in and then dumped the programme..

We just got back, and agree the new Smiths ferry is impressive and comfortable.

On the way there, we filled out the C&I forms before travel. I just wrote the ferry company [in our case, going Native son] and the ferry number NS1600. It was accepted by the software and caused no issue on arrival.

Based on ferry schedule caribbeangirl13 shared, landing at 12:20p we'd like to make the NS 1:50p ferry, but my gut tells me we'll catch the RTFF 4pm. I think it's best to wait on the forms until we are at the terminal.

We travelled to St John in 2021, we needed vaccine and positive antibody test submitted within 5 days of travel to USVI Travel Portal, airline scanned a bar code on a form we needed printed out.....never want to deal with that again!

If your flight arrives by 12:50 you will be fine for the 1:50 ferry. With no checked bags a 1:15 arrival will work.

A couple of things.I put in "Bomba Charger" as the ferry and it was the new"I Legend" and I just made up a reg # for the boat.....nothing was mentioned. As for The Petite Pump Room" it is there and thriving and run by the very nice owner Michael.I missed him when I walked in and he made a point of seeking me out to say "Hi".I like businesses like that! BTW dinner at The Sugar Mill last night was excellent as ever..steak and ale pie and a couple of glasses of fine red vino..And no sargassum here on the north shore...

According to the detailed instructions for the C&I site at

BVI tourism

the ferry number should be company initials plus time so ours was NS1600 for Native Son at 16:00.

Only works if you know the name of the ferry..I was told it was on the ferry company site. It does not seem to matter anyway...ball of confusion ( Thank you Temptations)

The BVI customs guys at the Road Town terminal were wholly uninterested in the fact that I'd filled out their silly app. They asked me a few questions and collected their $20. I suspect this is just a refinement of the paper form that they just threw away before.
