Southwest has announced they are coming to St Thomas early next year. LinkAny announcements regarding them coming to SXM??

Don’t see anything about SXM, but St Thomas is Southwest’ first new destination in 5 years.

Wow, ok. They don't seem to add new cities very fast. Someone who shall remain nameless is always breathlessly saying they are coming 'soon' to SXM.

They have Aruba so you would think they could negotiate a deal with the Dutch. Maybe some airport authorities are waiting for a check.

Aruba has TSA pre clearance, or whatever you call it. You clear US customs and immigration in Aruba. Perhaps I have hit upon the answer to my question.

Yup...and the Global Entry line is ALWAYS less than 5-6 people vs, the regular customs line which can be HUGE. We are in Aruba at the end of October almost every year
That (pre-clearance) would be a BIG addition to SXM
