I know this isn't a SXM post, but this is for all the New Yorkers who love Jones beach and St. Martin. We spent the day at field six. It was absolutely beautiful, the beach was soft like powder, the ocean was clean and low rolling waves. It was a hot one yesterday, we spent most of the day in the water. So for any of our St. Martiners that are on field six, give a shout-out!

It's absolutely one of the most beautiful beaches in the world second to our beaches in St. Martin IMHO with over 400 miles to choose from!!

Field 6 at Jones Beach was always our favorite spot. Years later, I moved out a little further on Long Island and Robert Moses State Park is the place now. Been surfing there for years. The last few weeks were great since we had waves every day with clean, clear and warm water. Field 6 fills up fast on the weekends. Glad you enjoyed it. Never surfed St. Maarten yet. Just bodysurfing when it gets big at Mullet.

Didn't expect to read about Jones here LOL.

Ironic, I've lived my life within 25 min of Jones and Robert Moses, but only get there MAYBE once a year!

My kids will hardly come w us to RM or Jones anymore, but they will spent ALL Day at Mullet and Maho hahahaha

Was actually telling my wife we have to jump over to Fire island maybe this week. If you haven't been over to Ocean Beach, you guys gotta come out here!

When I was a kid my cousin Bobby (RIP) took us out at 4am to Gilgo to surf!!! Best times of my life riding those big waves!! Now I boogie board at Field six, not the same, but still some days, some really good waves!!! We use to go to Moses beach, but the ride back to Southern Westchester was a nightmare!!
I have a Boogie board in St. Martin that stays there!! Sometimes we have some waves out in front of Beachside. Sometimes I can catch a few good waves on Orient in front of LaPlaya ( it has a nice long ocean floor up to the shoreline) Waves brake to late at Mullett, I have snorkel gear for that beach, there is some cool stuff on the ocean floor!!
We were at Field six this weekend!! It was as good as being on SXM beaches!!! The only bummer, driving home!! If you ever go to SIX, we park at the end of the cartpath!

We've done it once. It's just that the further out we go, the shorter the day!! That ride home can be a nightmare if you don't leave by 3pm, not much later than that!! Between the Northern state and the Cross Island, and not forgetting the Hutch through the Bronx!! But if we leave on time, it's a breeze!! Jones beach park staff do a great job of keeping the beaches clean and safe!! IMHO, the BEST lifeguards in the world!! I always make it a point, to walk up to there chair and thank them for their services!!

Here we are talking about Long Island beaches on a St. Maarten post. Yes, I just got back from the same route you take. Just a mention of the Hutch sends shivers down my spine! Glad you enjoy our beaches. Sorry you have to go through that ride. Good idea with the boogie board on St. Maarten. I was thinking about either renting a surfboard or boogie board since the island has some incredible breaks. Mullet is amazing at times and well as Copecoy. Actually saw some great waves at Plum Bay on the French side. That one is a long paddle out though. Enjoy Long Island and St. Maarten beaches when you can!

I hear you! Been doing more trips past you up to Montreal and I LOATHE the traffic. A few months ago, I left Farmingale at 04:30 and STILL hit traffic around 05:25 in the Bronx. Its INSANE

Last 2 times , I left Montreal at midnight, just to get home before the traffic. IT was GLORIOUS!

You are a trooper taking daytrips out here! PM me next time and give me a heads up next you're heading out here. Brews on the boardwalk!

Here's the link to the Scuba shop on Airport road, ask for Kim!! http://www.thescubashop.net/ That's where I bought a couple of boogie boards. Busted a couple, a few breaks in front of BSV on Simpson bay beach!! YEAH the Hutch will cripple any time you're trying to make back to Westchester from the island!!! On Sundays we have to leave Jones beach#6 by 3pm, if not mat as well stay the night!!! SMH!! Counting down the days to our late oct into Nov trip!!! See you on the island!! or Field 6!!

I had an office in Hicksville that I used more than a few days a week. Rule, leave REALLY early to the island and really late or park on the Cross island and the Hutch!! We should be back at Field 6 August 24th, hopefully the weather holds out!! Yeah the shipping container bar is pretty cool!!! Be nice to put a face to the name!! We use to throw so many TTOL parties all over SXM years ago!! We got sponsored by many great restaurants too!! Nobody does them anymore!! Safe travels!!

If the winds aren’t too bad, maybe we’ll take a ride!
