We'll be in the BVI 6/13-23, and our return flight (Jet Blue) was changed such that there is now a 6 1/2 hour layover in San Juan. We are hoping to clear customs, re-check our bags, then leave the airport for a late lunch in old San Juan. Does anyone know if there is a problem with this plan?
Some airlines may have a maximum amount of time for baggage check in before a flight is scheduled to leave. Last time we did the same thing, we had to take our bags with us.
On a different note, have you checked to see if there is a better routing for you? Changing by the airline to that amount of a layover, you MAY be able to cancel or change for no fee. Have you checked that out?
Otherwise, I think that, several years ago, we went out of the airport and walked almost across the street and got a meal, that was pretty decent.
