This is kind of a dumb question as I have stayed there numerous times, but I can't remember the answer. Is the drinking water in the Orient Bay area okay? I hate to buy bottled water, it is expensive and an environmental disaster. However, more than that I hate to spend a vacation near the bathroom.

Where exactly are you staying? If you're staying at a hotel, you should be fine. However, if you're staying in a villa or somewhere that provides their water from a cistern, no way I would drink that water, as you have no idea how well maintained the cistern is.

An update: took the keys to this villa this evening, the owner said that while you are supposed to be able to drink the water, she prefers bottled.

Sounds like maybe it's a cistern? Personally, I drink bottled water most of the time at home, so if it were me, I'd definitely go for bottled water.

We always drink bottled water on island. It beats ruining a vacation by running to the bathroom. Better safe than sorry, unless, like Carol says, you're staying in a hotel or resort.
