Well this doesn’t suck! I am out by the pool having coffee, looking over the beautiful blue water at Anguilla and hooked up via wifi! AWESOME!!! We flew in yesterday and since I have the wifi, I figured I would do a daily update instead of waiting to do a long trip report. So here goes…..
Sunday May 21-
Left Orlando on American on the 8:20am flight no problems. Landed in San Juan and the flight crew said something about going to gate 9 if you were going to St. Martin. We went there and there was a HUGE line. We said, forget this, and went back to gate 3 where our flight was departing from. Walked right up to the counter and they said, “you are set to go”. Confused, we asked about going to gate 9 and they said “oh, St. Martin isn’t affected”. Later we found out that the Monserrat volcano was erupting and flights to certain islands were cancelled. The flight at gate 4 to Aruba was cancelled. No more flights that day and they were giving people a night at a hotel. Really felt sorry for those people, but I was happy we were on the way to SXM!!! Got on the plane no problems and we were in SXM by 1pm. Grabbed the bags and the villa rep was there to meet us. I felt bad because I think Michael’s guy from Unity might have been there too, but the Villa rep said, “no problem, I will take you to Unity”. So off we went, picked up a grey Corolla with French tags as requested, and we were on the road by 1:15pm. Followed the villa rep to the house which is in Falaise des Oaiseaux. It is on the cliff between Plum Bay and Bay Rouge. The house is older and not fancy, but amazing. The view is unbeatable! Views from every room in the house, nice patio, pool deck etc. It feels very “cottage-y”. This piece of property is incredible. It is 5 acres fenced with an electric gate. We can’t see another house from where we are. We have our own mini CO resort!!
We settled in, consumed a few of the beers that were stocked in the fridge…gotta love that…and we were off to get the cell phone and sign up for tiko tiko. Went to Royal palm and got the cell phone from Sharon and then took the French side around to Orient. We missed the first entrance and we ended up on the pothole road, but it wasn’t that bad. Parked and then tried to find Papagayo. We have never come from inside the resort, so we went the wrong way and ended up having to trek back. We felt a little conspicuous because we were the only fully clothed people there, but we really just wanted to sign up for tiko tiko and be on our way. Found the sign up book at the end of the bar and it looked like they were already up to next Saturday!!! Yikes! We really wanted to go earlier in our stay and we looked on Wednesday and there were 11 people. We put our names down…it makes 13 but we are hoping that they will let us go. We’re going to check it out today when we go to the beach.
With that accomplished we found the little mini mart at Nettle Bay and bought a few necessities….more baby Heinekens, baguettes, cheese, coffee, rum, pina colada mix. It was pretty expensive there so we really didn’t buy too much. We plan on going to Match or Grande Marche later. So back to the villa a few beers, bread and cheese by the pool…aaaaaahhhhhhh! We started to get hungry, so we decided to go to Pizza Pasta and get a bite. It was fairly good. We had gnocci, veal piccata and a few beers. I think it came to about $47. I sweet talked by hubby into letting be go into the casino to play a little craps. I plunked down $60 and played for a while. It’s way to fun! A crowd of people all cheering and yelling. When your winning that is. Well when hubby walked away, I plunked down 2 more $20s. Then he came back and wanted to go. I cashed out with $104. He thought I was up $44, so I let him think that

.
Made our way back to the Villa and just crashed!! Woke up with the sunrise over the water….and that’s where we are……today it’s off to Orient in the morning……More to come…..
