Saturday and Sunday, June 14-15Saturday and Sunday were Divi Days, spent lounging either on my deck or by/in the Infinity Pool. The weather was perfect, and these were extremely lazy days. Wifi was a bit better Saturday morning so I was able to complete and post my first week’s trip report. It would be nice if I could do the photo resizing on a daily basis for the rest of the trip so that the report is ready to go Saturday morning. We’ll see how I do with that. Saturday morning also appears to be when local children have swimming lessons, with parents watching.

Since Seabreeze Pool had reopened, I decided to give it a try for lunch. I had hoped that with the remodeling of the kitchen, the food would be better. Not so. I had their Cobb salad. Not bad, but not wonderful, either. But the view is pleasant.

I did venture out for dinner, to Fig. It’s still as good as it was last year. I had shrimp with their wonderful dipping sauces and am hard pressed to say which one I liked best. Service was attentive, and no 15% was added to the bill.
Sunday lunch was eating in: salad with some leftovers tossed in. I’m intrigued by this flower by the Infinity Pool with the pods beneath. Anyone know what it is?

I’m jealous of those folks who stay at Divi earlier in the year when the sun is setting further to the east who can see the sun hit the horizon. The best I can see is it going behind the hill.

I met a group for dinner at The Palms, where several of us ordered the drunken ribs; I thought they were just okay, but the service was wonderful. The nice waitress from the UK humored many of us by taking the same picture over and over on each of our cameras.
Monday, June 16It was time to go somewhere other than Divi. Since I had an appointment for a 5 PM sunset sail, something close by seemed in order; Kokomo fit the bill. I know others have reported snooty treatment, but I had a very satisfying experience. There was hardly anyone there when I arrived, and I was able to snag a lounger directly under the restaurant. Initially the beach boy, who doubled as my waiter, said it was too windy to put up the umbrella. I was getting pretty heated quickly. I noticed that others who were now on the beach had their umbrellas up, and he went down to talk with them. No idea what was said, but their umbrella stayed up and he came back up and put mine up also, telling me to be careful. Much more comfortable!
Kokomo is really in a beautiful setting.

I eventually ordered a shrimp Caesar, which had nice large slices of parmesan on the top, but I neglected to take a photo. It hit the spot. Since this is vacation, after all, I ordered a chocolate martini for dessert. That really hit the spot!

Overall, I was very pleased with my experience at Kokomo. Too soon it was time to join a group for a sunset cruise on the Tango. To each his own, but OMG, this was sooo not my cup of tea! 75 of your closest friends, loud music that you had to shout over to be heard, unending open bar with lots of rum punch. I hadn’t been on the Tango before so am glad to have had the experience, but it’s one I won’t be repeating. I acknowledge I was in the minority with my opinion of the excursion, but so be it.

To soothe my nerves (I’m such a jazz snob that virtually everything else, especially at unreasonable volumes, sets me on edge), I decided to go back to Fusion where it’s quiet and calm. I was able to thank them for comping my wine last week (which they did again this trip!) and was told it’s because they appreciate my business – even though it’s one month a year! I started out with the crab and lobster bisque, and had the tempura shrimp appetizer as my main. I really think this is one of the best restaurants on the island although, to be fair, I haven’t experienced many in the Grand Case area.
Tuesday, June 17The cats are eating more this week than last. I suspect last week there was a guest feeding them something they liked better than what I’m serving.
It was another lazy day; this time at Dawn Beach. I had no problem parking in Busby’s parking lot; perhaps it’s a low-season kind of thing.

I had a peach smoothie where the peach flavor was barely discernible and later some mozzarella sticks that were good enough with a bit of lettuce and a tomato slice. While it was pleasant lounging on the beach, today’s beach-bar experience was a marked contrast ambience-wise to yesterday’s at Kokomo.
Back to Divi where I hung out on the deck, did some mid-trip laundry, and as Islandgem says, caught up on correspondence. Had a late dinner at Mark’s Place, which was OK.
I realize I'm not having a particularly exciting trip this time; I suspect it's partially due to traveling solo. I hope the pictures make up for the lack of excitement. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />
