All different degrees of good. Not much is "like the old idea of the BVIs" but that is progress for you....I hated the idea when they built a resort on Saba Rock - but I go there regularly and have a great time. I hated when they redid all the shacks into fancy places like the Pirates and Cooper but then went there and had a great time and lamented the construction for years as I watched Scrub get built and then went there and had a great time. Yup it is def different than throwing your hook in Great Harbor and dingy to Foxys but as stated hanging over the edge of that pool w a drink in ur hand looking out at the SFDC is spectacular and beats sitting in my office in the winter. Plus they have a dive center there so my when I am with my son it is convenient. We dont go there every time but it is great when we do and everyone is super friendly.

I must drink what you are drinking next time I'm at Scrub. I've never been able to see the SFDC from there. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Wink.gif" alt="" />

Just got back and we thought Scrub was nice and we did receive the discount. I concur with the others... most of the people we met staying there were pleasant, using Marriott points, and had all kinds or questions about sailing and kinda thought we were dare devils sailing a bareboat with three kids LOL.

Of course we bought drinks/food and were very respectful. I could see them getting irritated at a cat full of parting adults carrying drinks from boat to pool acting like idiots. Best Western kinda people.

I was sad to see the upper pool closed but the kids liked the slide and the fact they could trains, go forward, backward, sideways, without lifeguards yelling at them LOL... like in the USA.

And yes... Leverick is still the best <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />

Probably leave their fenders out when they sail too! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/cloud.gif" alt="" />

Just back from saing Abacos. Met one guy who held his nose when I mentioned sailing BVI before. He said the BVI wasn't like it used to be. I asked him "what is? And then said "well, at least BVI has wind!"

Scrub is my kind of resort if I was land based. My wife's definition of roughing it...used to be the Holiday Inn, now it's staying at the Ritz Carlton and leaving the windows open. That's why we've moved up from smaller monos to bigger cats with all the bells and whistles.

But when I'm on a boat, that is where I want to stay until the trip ends.

I spent my money on booze, broads, and boats...the rest I wasted.

Are you saying you just want to motor a cat over to Scrubs dock and check into the hotel?

I will say the only thing I didn't get was having to go into the lobby to check in... it was way overkill and took almost 30 mins.

Nick's folks have you tied up, paid up, a bag of ice and in the pool with drink in hand in NO TIME FLAT...

I'll try it again...

When I'm on a boat, the boat is where I want to stay until the trip ends.

This is exactly what myself and the crew did as recently as 6/20. After turning in our cat we enjoyed our leisurely trip to Trellis and awaited our ferry to Scrub to spend the night in one of their villas (paid $ not points, although a couple of us could have pooled points).

The upper pool was open while the lower was receiving its final resurface and while slightly crowded, it didn't pose a problem.

There were many vessels on the dock, all of them good, friendly people and welcome in the pool; at least by us.

As for the resort staff, there was a "communication" error on our arrival time. Apparently if you're coming from Trellis it's advisable to tell them you have 8 people arriving from a charter rather than expecting they are sending the big ferry every time. We ended up bumping some staff and pool resurfacing staff to accommodate the guests. I called ahead and the person I spoke to couldn't comprehend I wasn't on email to let them know 2 days in advance when our crew was arriving; assuming we were arriving into EIS, instead of finishing our charter with a nice night at scrub.

Other than the ferry situation, the rest of the stay was fabulous. The staff at breakfast, pool bar, luggage bellmen, marina store/deli were all wonderful. The check-in staff was questionable as we wanted to upgrade villas with more $ to accommodate people that were in regular rooms but they said everything was occupied. Turns out the 4 bedroom next to us was vacant that night. Who knows if they prep those villas for guests like a hotel would for any standard room.

I think Scrub is still a Marriot Property? There is a very, very nice Marriot Property about a mile from my house in Napa. Just think of all the travel I could save?

So does anyone know if you can use Marriott points at scrub?

Yes, you can use points to book a room at Scrub Island. On the random day I picked it was 45,000 points/night. It's part of their Autograph Collection (so definitely a Marriott property) and considered a Category 9 hotel.

Thanks Stormy! Always good to find new places to use the Marriott points since there don't seem to be any Hilton properties in the islands.

I think maybe it comes to people later in life that money doesn't always engender respect.

If Scrub exists on Marriot Points, and doesn't cultivate their opportunities for selling services for Cash at the POS, then everyone there is effectively subsidized with ghost money.
How entitled do you think you should be ?
