Well, our two weeks are coming to an end soon here in SXM. We made sure to visit Orient Beach a few times before the destruction begins. When we were there today they were tearing down one place. I noticed some still had signs advertising their business hanging. I asked one of the fellows who was working if he was going to work on the demolition next door. When he acknowledged that he would be I asked if I could remove one of the old wooden signs with the establishment's name on it. He laughed and said go ahead. I was very grateful as now I have something other than a memory to remember this area by. Just have to get it wrapped and get it home now. Sad to see all those places go!

We were there today also, saw a sign still at Andy and Cheryl's and one at Aloha. I am surprised the owners of the businesses involved wouldn't want those signs.. They appeared to be removing a huge metal container when we were there.

Could be mere speculation on my part, but maybe with the new construction, there are rules the owners have to adhere to as to what types of signs, etc will be allowed. Nothing old and dated, but all "new and shiny".

I would think they might want it as a momento for themselves..

A box full of cash somewhere might be momentous enough for some

I have to do a little LOL when thinking of the "Old" Orient Beach before there was any development there except for Club O.
