Bonus Trip Trip Report – part 3Dinner –
Dinghy Dock – Our first night on SXM and since we were staying at Les Balcons, it was an easy choice for dinner. A rib plate, which comes with a small salad. We ordered a small order of fries. Two draft Presidents and a diet coke - $18.00 plus tip. Please note that a small order of fries at DD will feed four. No telling how many a large order would feed. Betty and I pretty much agree that these are now the best ribs, we have tasted on the Island(since the closing of Ms B’s).
Daniels By The Sea – Mr Busby’s morphs into Daniels in the evening. Padded chair covers, table cloths, and very attentive service makes for a nice dining experience. We thoroughly enjoyed dinner here with Joyce(indi) and Matt
Daniels By the Sea. Betty had the Mahi Mahi, Norm had one of the specials of the night, Riggitoni with Daniel's special Italian sausage. Along with Joyce and Matt’s meals, a couple glasses of wine, cocktails, and iced tea, a two slices of homemade apple pies with vanilla ice cream and 2 scoops of chocolate ice cream on the side
Dessert -$192.50 with service charge.
A wonderful evening of good food and with great new friends.
Quai Ouest – One of the newer restaurants in the Oyster Pond area. Just up the walkway from the Dinghy Dock.
Quai Ouest An interesting menu. Unfortunately, neither Betty nor I were real hungry, so we had one of Nadia’s pizza’s
Nadia and Becky . It’s thin crust, very good. We did manage to find room for a QO ice cream dessert special. Vanilla ice cream, Mango Sherbet, fresh raspberries, strawberries, and chunk mango with whipped cream and a little shaved chocolate. Pretty tasty!
Sorry, forgot to record the price.
Harbour View – Located on the Boardwalk. After viewing the parade on the Boardwalk we stopped by Harbour View. We sampled the Red Snapper Filet. It came with a carrot/onion combo, baked cheese mararoni, salad and rolls. 2 cokes - $17.50. No service charge. It was good, although Red Snapper, we decided, was not our most favorite fish. Just a personal preference.
Sopranos – We stopped by Sopranos to check out the piano bar. Decided that a pizza sounded like a better idea. The Italian counterpart restaurant is located at the top of the escalators across the street from Casino Royale. We shared an Italian sausage pizza.
Sopranos We thought it was very good.
Greenhouse – Stopped by after the cocktail party at Joyce and Matt’s Villa. Not that we really needed to eat anymore after all Joyce’s snacks, but decided that a late “comfort food” stop would be all right. Had a grilled cheese w/bacon sandwich. Can’t get anymore “comfort” than grilled cheese and bacon. It came with grilled plantines and slaw. Really hit the spot. With 2 iced teas, $16.49, no service charge or tax.
Pineapple Pete’s - We go to PP for one reason – their Crème Brulee
Creme Brulee , but we do find other things on the menu we enjoy,…just not as much. Started with a couple Mango Coladas, then ordered the fish and chips. This was an incredibly large piece of Grouper, deep fried, of course, with a very tasty batter with fries and salad. Very good! With 2 cokes and only 1 Crème Brulee - $37.26, with service charge.
Pizza Galley – Always enjoy Pizza Galley. A small Caesar salad, cheese pizza, glass of wine and coke - $27.00. No service charge.
Peg Leg Pub – Love their new location. We had our second “Get Together” here. Talked to owner Jack a little. Got an idea of future plans for the place. A larger deck will be built out this summer/fall. Woodwork will be finished with flat screen TV’s. He talked about the great deal he got from the Casino owner. Also pointed out that they now have limo and bus service available to pick you and/or a group up at your time share or villas, bring you to the restaurant and casino and take you home. Seems like a great party idea. Jack also mention that TTOL members get 10% off their bill at PLP. After several rounds of drinks for Happy Hour we ordered an appetizer. Betty got a sampler platter with way too much food for one. Norm got the Steak on a stick. Another huge portion. A meal in itself. Appetizers are ½ price during Happy Hour. Great way to get a wonderful meal and save money.
Halsey’s – Chef Ryan is from Kansas City and we’ve partied with his brother, John Michael, at a Kansas City TTOL party, so maybe we’re slightly partial, but Halsey’s serves some really good, creative food.
On our visit this time, Crème of Garlic Soup was a special of the night. I couldn’t resist. Betty, in retrospect, wish I had or that she would have got a bowl in self-defense. It was wonderful. And we were not trouble by Vampires all evening or the next day, either <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Laugh.gif" alt="" />.
Halsey's We also had a menu item that featured a bed of mashed plantine with a large chunk of blacken Mahi Mahi, topped with a grilled slice of pineapple, and sprinkled with coconut. This was drizzled with a tropical fruit sauce. Very Tasty. Two scoops of home-made ice cream, hazelnut and chocolate. A glass of white wine, 2 ice teas - $62. with service charge.
Cheri’s – Hadn’t stopped at Cheri’s for a couple visits and it’s always fun to see the show and hear the music. We shared a Caesar salad and some cheese sticks which had a very good and slightly different breaded coating. Along with 2 mango coladas - $27.
Our last night we went back to
Pineapple Pete’s and enjoyed their Neptune Burger and of course, a Crème Brulee.
Last Creme Brulee. Sorry, another “senior moment”, forgot to record the cost.
