Picking up a Moorings charter out of Granada end of February. First time in this area. Plan to get up to Bequia. We have 9 days. Wondering if anybody can share some info on provisioning in Granada and if there is any place north of there en-route, and any thing else you can share. I have thick skin. Tell it like it is. Cant be worse than Belize in the supply department. Thanks

Not that they’re fancy but there are market’s on both Union and Bequia. For Veggies or fruit you can’t beat the local street venders. On Bequia you also have the Rasta Market and if you can put up with their BS you can come away with some real treasures. If you want fresh bread search out the bakery on the west side of Admiralty Bay.

There are good supermarkets in Grenada, one is right across the street from Port Louis Marina. The one at Spiceland Mall is the best stocked. Dedicatedly check out the market in St George's for fresh fruits and veg, spices and seasonings. You can take the local bus to St George or Spicelsnd Mall and then easily find a taxi back.
The fish market is also a great deal $3 a pound for fresh fish.
There are a couple small supearkets on Carriacou, but not much variety.
We find the Knights on Bequia has the best price on Captain Bliegh, our favorite rum.
When anchored in Bequia you will hear a conch shell horn blow in the morning, it means the fishermen are returning and the fish market is open
Enjoy your trip, the Grenadines are a beautiful place

Care to elaborate on what sort of BS you are talking about?

Imagine being in a roomful of the stereotyped Used Car Salesmen or Infomercial dudes. Each one has the best product at the best price. Similar to an unpolished Boat Boy. Personally I’ve always got along and sometimes have been very happy to have these folks on my side but they can be intense. Not dangerous but over motivated. The Boat Boys (AKA Venders ) can be the same but that’s another discussion.

The best place is, as Sammy said, in Spiceland Mall. It's called IGA ( http://www.realvalueiga.com/ ) and you can get pretty much anything you need right there. Once you leave Grenada you are very limited on what you can get until you reach St Vincent. So... Stock up at IGA!!!

Hi defezerk1,
I'm planning on being down in the area in late June.
I found this helpful free online cruising guide that has loads of info including provisioning. Hope you find it helpful.
