I'll sing the praise of Le Taitu's lunch special. It's 11.85 Euros, generally with a choice of 7 or 8 different plates (I prefer the French dishes). The plate itself comes with salad and starch, and the meal comes with a drink, wine and beer included, and a post meal coffee. I think this is the best deal on the island.
There's no way to go wrong with Yvette's lunches, which are priced the same at dinner. Goat stew or chicken for $10, including Johnny cakes, fries, salad and fried plantain. If you have more "expensive" tastes, $15 will get you conch or snapper dishes. The meals are very filling and we usually take some home.
For something completely different, try Ital's Freedom Fighters. While the plates are vegetarian they are both filling and tasty. I believe there's 2 sizes of the daily, one is $9 and the other $11. I found this place to be a welcome change to the Cardiologists' nightmares that I really like to eat.
And for a super cheap lunch, have some patties/pies and a couple of Dutch Coffees at Hilma's Windsor Castle. I think the patties are $1.5o each, and two are filling. Me, I prefer her stuffed johnny cakes, and 2 of those wonderful sandwiches with 2 coffees runs $13. And, if you get there when she isn't too busy, she's a great lady to talk to.

dlbert--you are being entirely too strict in your interpretations here and way too argumentative. Chill, or you will find yourself in a time out.

Gee, was French dining described in the original post? You can have two courses on the Dutch side or French side or anywhere in the world.
Les Entrees, Les plats & Les desserts is the true description on a French Le Carte.

Saw your earlier post about perhaps trying the Grill at Starz. We tried it one night on our last trip when we couldn't make a decision as to where and what. It was pleasant enough, reasonably priced and the food was much nicer than the offerings of the place that used to occupy that spot. Nothing 'special' but still enjoyable, and we got to do a little people watching as we sat there......

Hi Pat,
Just thinking maybe a quick bite if we have the little one with us. Although she has already dined in Grand Case. And the restaurant was wonderful. And the diners never knew she was there.
Thank you,
Lyn

We always found the restaurants across SXM to be wonderful with regard to their treatment of the little ones. Lyndsey and Riley ate wherever the family did when they were les enfants and as they got a little older, even if there was nothing on the menus we felt they would enjoy, they were always able to order at least a plate of plain pasta. And little ones do learn what they live.....introducing them early they seem to grow up knowing acceptable behavior and live it quite naturally. And I know your little cutie would be welcomed everywhere......

RonDon said: Where is Hilma's? Where do you park at Ital's (I know where that is) And I agree, Le Taiitu is the best! Hilma's is between RBC bank and Palms restaurant, across the street from Rancho steakhouse. There's adequate shoulder across the road from Ital's to park roadside.
