There is usually a carnival on the French Side in Marigot in February. Carnival Village is part of the Dutch side carnival in April in Phillipsburg. It is the biggest carnival and has many activities including a big parade.

The grand parades through the streets of Marigot are something to experience - sights and sounds. One parade is held the last Sunday of Carnival (February 7 this year) and the final one is held on "Fat Tuesday" (February 9 this year) the day before Ash Wednesday. Go to the link below, scroll down to where it says "saint-martin carnival 2016", then click on the link that says "Click here to see the program" and that will open the Carnival flyer. Even though is shows the grand parades starting at Noon, we've been several times over the years, and they've never started before mid afternoon. http://www.stmartinisland.org/st-martin-events/one-year-in-st-martin.html Also, if you go to Harmony Nights on Tuesday night in Gran Case, you're likely to see some of the Carnival troupes parading up and down the closed off Boulevard de Gran Case.
