First off I want to thank everyone for your support over the past few weeks, and thank you for all the love you have shown for my dad. My mom and I have really enjoyed the stories you have shared on Facebook and on TTOL. We are so blessed to have so many friends who care about us.

As some of you know, we plan to take a trip to the BVIs this summer to spread my dads ashes in the Sir Francis Drake channel. We will save some ashes and keep them down in the BVI for the Cat Fight, since there will be some sort of celebration for him then. My mom and I will be going during the summer because I will be in school for the Cat Fight and might not be able to attend, although you know I will try my best to get time off! My dad was so proud of me for going to college, so I need to make sure I still do well. Going in the summer will also allow us to get the ashes to BVI for the Cat Fight, in case we are not able to attend.

So this is where I need help from all you BVI experts. As you can imagine, my dad did 100% of the planning and preparation for the BVI trips and every other trip we ever went on. We don’t have much experience in planning; so we could definitely use some advise.

We would also like to know when all of you will be down in the summer, so we could possibly meet up or hang out. Please let us know when you will be down if you are comfortable with sharing this information with us.

I would also like to thank everyone who I have been in contact with including Laura, who has helped me get on TTOL and get in contact with some of you. Thank you so much for your love and support. I know my dad would absolutely love to see how his friends were so supportive to our family.

Hi Nic, Julie and I with 3 other couples will be arriving June 28th to St Thomas and ferry to Moorings. We head back to STT on the 5th for a night at the former Best Western. Dirk and Sandy will be down during that time also. If you have questions or need help planing the trip I am sure the folks here are glad to help when you find out the dates.

Steve & Julie

Hi Nicole! I think it is a wonderful thing for you and your Mom to bring Saildoggie back to the place he loved so much. We are not coming to BVI this year, but next year when we are back I will have a toast to him. He was so proud of you and the beautiful smart woman that you have grown into. I hope you and your Mom will find the right place and time to honor your Dad. Please know everyone on this board is ready and willing to help in any way they can.
I was a travel agent in my younger days so if you need help with looking at flights PM me or just give a shout out and I will see what I can do to help.. take care
Rita

Greetings Sailpuppy!!! It's so great to see you on here, Nicole! Our summer dates are 5/27-6/10 -- we are at Leverick for the Poker Run from 5/27 until the morning of 5/31 and then it's anybody's guess after Anegada on 5/31 - we'll be on the boat until 6/8 and then in Cane Garden Bay for two nights - leaving Tortola on 6/10.

I will most likely be down for Cat Fight - either land-based or possibly on a boat - not sure yet.

Hi Nichole!

We'll be chartering a Saba50 catamaran called Cuvee out of CYOA on June 28-July 8. We will be working our way out to Anegada and back.

We'll have a pretty full boat with 8 people, but Cuvee is huge, and we would love to hook up with you guys and do whatever we can to help you.

It seems like, at a minimum, you'd need to meet someone with a boat somewhere (Roadtown Harbor would probably be the best) and get out into Sir Francis Drake channel (30-minutes out) for a ceremony.

I'd recommend that you research the idea of committing ashes to the sea in the BVI to make sure you don't run afoul of any laws. I've never done it, so I have no idea.

Been there, done that. As Sir Richard would say, "Screw it, let's do it". There are some formalities involved, buuuuut, I'll have Laura relay some info to you

Let me know when, and i/we will come.

curious, does anyone have a GPS/LOC of DAWG Rock?

As a one hull guy, we don't know where cats roll.

it's basically here
Dawg Rock

but, you wouldn't really be sailing there unless you were cutting the "corner" of Sandy Cay...however the island is used as a race course rounding "mark" and this is when someone might find themselves becoming intimately familiar with Dawg Rock. All the more fitting for the Dawg as he was a pretty hard core racer (hence the reason he was cutting it as close as he was!) \

edit I cant get the link to be clickable so just copy and paste it but it's essentially 18.436166, -64.705930

That rock has amazing capabilities. I seem to recall hearing that prior to hitting the rock, there were 6 or 7 captains on board. After the strike, there was only one

It brought me to my knees! Guilty also! It did get really really quiet on the boat
