Arrived at Scrub last night after a very long day - but the giant tub in our room and a very comfy bed made it worth it! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />
So ....after riding the scrub ferry from Trellis to scrub, and having the ferry captain zoom by pretty close to moored boats I'm rethinking our itinerary.
We were going to go Jost to Marina Cay to North Sound. I'm rethinking that to Jost to Cane Garden to North Sound. We're on a power yacht - not sailing. Cane Garden seems a bit more protected too - wind is UP down here right now!

Watch the north swell in CGB. If it kicks up, the surfers rejoice, anchored boats, not so much.

Jost direct to NGS is the same sailing time as CGB to NGS. If you want to split the time, Marina Cay / Trellis / Guana Is. are your choices. Marina Cay is generally very well protected. As others have noted, CGB not so much. Finally, watch the cruise ship schedule. CGB can be overrun if there are multiple ships in dock at Road Town!

We avoid CGB, crowded, not nice water, can be loud at night, and you may rock-and-roll at night.

Sailing weather in the BVIs looks like standard easterly winds and waves through next week. They are predicting a north swell setting up next Friday, but that's pretty far out to forecast accurately. Have fun!

We love CGB, just stay on the boat while (if) there is a cruise ship in, they are usually gone by 2:00.

We love listening to Quito, the BBQ at the Elm and the Elmtones, breakfast at Rhymers. Myett's happy hour. Beach hopping to all the bars.

But, as mentioned, don't go if there is a north swell.

We were at Quito's for Happy Hour 2 weeks ago and had a great time. They have some good drink and app specials.

I agree, nothing wrong with CGB. May be the best choice of nightlife in the BVIs. We were just there. Sailed from Anegada, got in early afternoon, drinks at Quito's, dinner at the Suger Mill. What's not to like! I do watch the swells and the cruise ship schedules though.

If your only concern about Marina Cay is the ferry, I really wouldn't worry about it. You can pick a spot in the mooring field where you are not on the edges and the ferry won't go by you so close. We've never found that to be a problem.

Each location has its attractions though. CGB has one less for us with Green VI glass blowing moving to Bitter End. We really loved stopping to check them out and see what they had and would typically bring something home with us.

If we could only do one, I'd probably go with Marina Cay as we love snorkeling Diamond Reef.

That's Apples and oranges..love Marina Cay because of its natural beauty and location..and hear things are better now at Pusser's with the lovely Cindy Mason running it..CGB is great fun without the cruise shippers or after they leave..as said great music , and food choices..tonight we'll probably stop at Quito's for happy hour to hear Caave Stout then on to The Elm for The Elmtones..

We haven't been waked at Marina Cay and the ferry. We usually anchor between the mooring field and the reef and its quite pleasant. Pussers has better service and food on our last three visits.

We also love late afternoons and sunsets from the beach at CGB and that beautiful peachy light. Great for photos and beach walks. Perhaps a pint or too as well.

Cheers, RickG

Thanks for all the input. We always hit CGB and were thinking Marina Cay would be a nice change of pace. Ferry rides yesterday were rough - looks like it calms down a bit in the next few days.

From our experience you have to be earlier at Marina Cay if you are looking for mooring compared to CGB.

Love Marina Cay and we're planning to stop this year so we can snorkel Diamond Reef - I have always loved that Pussers so it's great to hear that it's doing well!! 54 days <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Banana.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Groovin.gif" alt="" />

...what an awesome two nights we had at CGB...The Elm., then Quito and the edge....love the nightlife there...we were there during a swell but got tucked it in the right spot.......the repaired dinghy dock was great but watch things carefully if a north swell is on...a few dinghies ended up under the dock . potential for damage

Blue Moon's dinghy got stuck under the dock that night and the tiller handle almost completely broke off.
