Is there a particular reason you're interested in a water taxi vs. just taking the ferry?

Does anyone know what the current ability of a water taxi to take passengers beyond West End?

If I can't be a good example, I'll just have to be a horrible warning. [Linked Image]

Well I can certainly see that; once when we were taking the ferry & the two young men ran up to us at the same time trying to sell us tickets I said, "I'm buying from whichever of you ISN'T going to make me ride in the Bomba Charger".

But last I knew the water taxi services from the USVI were limited to dumping passengers at west end, which ended our use of them. Don't know if this has been rectified, however.

The water taxis from the BVIs can take you to your final destination. I don't believe the ones from the USVI can do that any longer.

Later this month We are booked with Foxys water taxi. They will be picking us up in Red Hook, clearing in in the West End, then continuing onto Hodges Creek.

It is so unfair that the US water taxis can't take their passengers to their final destinations. However, the BVI water taxis can pick up in the US and take their passengers to the final location. Now to be clear I would not be frustrated by this except that the BVI water taxis are unreliable and frankly rude in their service.

I had planned to keep our boat in Nanny Cay during the season but due to these problems we opted to use a marina in St Thomas. For us it is easier to fly into STT and take a cab to Sapphire Beach rather than fight the ferry schedule and water taxi wars. I just want to get to my sail boat I don't give a shi$ about the politics of the BVI and their taxi monopolies.

What ever happened to the needs of the customer?

The flight arrives in STT at 3 pm. The last ferry, on friday, is at 4h30. It seems a little tight.

Ce n'est pas tant l'état des bateaux, que l'absence d'organisation et de fiablilité.

You should have no problem with that schedule. Ferry is only 10 minutes away from the airport.

LOL....as GlennA says.... you will be fine
barring of course... a late arrival
not that American Airlines ever "flies late"

4:15 into Roadtown... 4:30 into Westend
and, there is, I believe, a 5pm from RedHook into WestEnd

Actually I have never known the 4:30 to leave before 5:00.

Unless things have changed, as of 9 months ago, only Ocean Dreams ( http://www.oceandreamswatertaxi.com/homepage_EDJE.html )can take you thru the BVI clearing in process and on to your final BVI destination.

Just used Dolphin Water Taxi a few weeks ago and they were great. Google them and ask for Glen. They helped with C&I although we still had to go through it.

Foxy's Water Taxi, being a BVI based company, can do the same as Ocean Dreams. As long as they are a BVI based company, they can take you to your final destination.

Good question - we discussed whether they could drop us off at the boat after C&I and they did not say no but rather there was a pretty fresh breeze that day (25kts) and we took their smaller tender so it was a pretty lively ride and Glen suggested that rather than slug it another 30-40+ into the wind that a dry taxi would be waiting to take us the rest of the way in less time....in hindsight wondering if they couldve???
