Have a couple of stories:
1)The 1st time we went to the Dawn Beach Hotel, our initial room had no working air conditioner, fan or refrigerator. We went to the office & a young man got another room for us. Later that evening he asked if we were enjoying ourselves yet & we replied that we were. Throughout the week he asked every time he saw us (incuding one evening in Grand Case when he was driving through & rolled down his car window to ask if we were enjoying ourselves).
2)Driving through Orleans, I wanted to make sure we were going in the right direction to get to Grand Case. I stopped to ask a woman directions but she spoke only French (which I don't speak). She called her friend from across the street to help us with directions because she knew he spoke English.
Since then we've met many wonderful people at various spots around the island, but those 2 from our 1st trip helped to make SXM a place we remembered for its friendliness. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Cool.gif" alt="" />
